The Chai Times // G-ds Kiss
Aug 15, 2025 10:58 pm
The Baal Shem Tov, the founder of the Chasidic movement once taught, the greatest enemy is the voice within that devalues our own self-worth. Too often we say, what are my actions, what are my prayers, what is my study worth? Am I the such a special Jew to make a difference? Why even bother?
Know, said the holy Baal Shem Tov, that G-d sits at the tips of your lips, waiting breathlessly for your one good action, so that He may kiss you.
You matter deeply to the entirety of Creation. It is only the inner cynic that tells you otherwise.
Shabbat shalom!

YJP needs you to Answer this Survey and let the researchers know how much we do.
- When you answer this survey - make sure to emphasize your involvement in this YJP / Chabad community. Some questions might ask identity questions (what "kind" of a Jew are you, what's your affiliation) and it might ask participation (how often to you attend Jewish events, what practices do you do at home).
- We understand that younger (YJP) Jews don't see themselves as one denomination or the other but when asked point blank might just go with what synagogue they grew up with.
- Please think of your current involvement when answering the questions.
- We love YJP and want to see it thrive the more data we have as to the level of reach and power of community, the stronger our ability to secure funders, donors and funding to build and create programs for this community!
- Thank you!

The needs and concerns of the Jewish community have changed dramatically over the past few years. Commissioned by Shalom Austin, the upcoming Study of Jewish ATX will help community organizations do the important work of planning for the future. For information about this study visit https://shalomaustin.org/study-of-jewish-austin.
This study is being conducted by an experienced research team at the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies at Brandeis University and is being administered by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center (UNH).
Over the coming weeks, you may be contacted by email, letter, or phone with an invitation to participate in the survey. Email messages will be sent by UNH from survey.center@unh.edu. The letters will have Brandeis’s logo. Phone calls will come from UNH, with Caller ID showing 603-397-0660.
Because this is a scientific survey with a defined list of potential participants, you may not receive an invitation to participate; however, if you do, we encourage you to respond and participate in this important project. Anyone age 18 or older in your household can complete this survey, but please do not share or forward it to anyone outside of your household.
