The Chai Times #53 // High Holy Mirror
Oct 07, 2022 9:39 pm
Hi! If this is your first email, or if you never got officially welcomed in, Hello! this is your official welcome.
This is a weekly email (Friday morning-ish) that brings you the upcoming events, some of my thoughts, and a small collection of reads and videos that we found interesting and pertinent.
Sukkot is upon us!
This lesser-known half of the High Holidays is the opposite of the first half. No fasting, weeping, chest pounding, no. This is about eating and dancing, celebrating and joy. Better said - it is the mirror image of the first days.
What we have done over Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur through meditation and introspection we now continue on Sukkot and Simchat Torah through joy and celebration.
What does this mean practically?
Eat in a sukkah, shake a lulav, and celebrate over these next 2 weeks. Celebrate the joy of being a Jew, blessed by G-d for a good year, of being alive in 5783.
Wishing you an uplifting Shabbat!
Rabbi Mendy & Mussy
p.s. from Monday through Sunday it's a mitzvah to shake the Lulav and Etrog every day. Reach out to us we would love if you would swing by to perform the mitzvah with the YJP LUlav and Etrog
