The Chai Times // Make High Holidays Deliberate
Aug 30, 2024 8:04 pm
Dear Friends,
As we prepare for another High Holiday season my thoughts and memories begin to stir.
Songs, foods, smells, sounds. Each a trigger for feeling that brings me into the spirit of the holidays. There are so many pivotal experiences and holiday moments ahead of us.
I belive that as children, or even college kids, the High Holidays were something that happened to us—external experiences created by others that shaped our spiritual lives. The calendar set the tone, and we simply followed along.
Now, as young adults, the responsibility shifts. It is no longer enough to wait, to be a passenger along for the ride. We are called to take ownership of our spiritual journey, to actively engage in the hard work of self-reflection, growth, inspiration and celebration.
Let’s make this year's high holidays deliberate,
Wishing you an uplifting Shabbat,
Rabbi Mendy & Mussy
