The Chai Times #47 // What a party
Aug 26, 2022 8:00 pm
On Sunday, we begin the final month of the Jewish year, Elul. The clock is ticking towards Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. So instead of using this space for a thought, how about we advocate for an action.
Rosh Hashanah will begin in the evening of Sunday, September 25
and ends in the evening of Tuesday, September 27. Yes, that is the first two days of the work week.
Yom Kippur will begin in the evening of Tuesday, October 4
and ends in the evening of Wednesday, October 5. Also a workday.
Don't wait for a month to elapse and regret not asking for those days, or some of those days, off. When the invites come for Rosh Hashanah dinners and services, and they will, don't say “I wish I could, but I put in my request too late, I didn't realize the dates.”
Take action today. Ask your employer for those precious days. If you want a letter from a rabbi, I'm happy to provide.
Let's intentionally prepare for a New Year.
Shabbat Shalom!
