The Chai Times // Tumbling into the Outside World

It was really great to spend Passover with so many of you!

By the numbers: 130+ at first Seder, 50 at second Seder and 40 at Seudat Moshiach Feast.

With this, Summer officially begins. Six months until the High Holidays a long time that hearkens to long, whimsical days, time to dally about and feel entirely free.

Of course, work and responsibility are standing in the corner and frowning.

There is a passage from the Rebbe that talks to the balance of freedom and responsibility:

"The presence of Mashiach is revealed on the Final Day of Pesach (Passover), and this revelation has relevance to all Israel:

"Pesach contains the energy of "skipping over" (rather than orderly progress), and leil shimurim the "protected night." In general, the mood of Pesach is one of liberty.

"Then Pesach ends, and we find ourselves tumbling headlong into the outside world. This is where Mashiach's revealed presence comes into play - imbuing us with a powerful resoluteness that enables us to maintain ourselves in the world."

Powerful resoluteness? Carrying the message of the protected night into the world? It's hard to think of something we need more of right now.

May this be a good and safe season for us all, particularly for our brethren in Israel and on college campuses.

Wishing you an uplifting Shabbat,

Rabbi Mendy & Mussy
