Season One in review

Jun 11, 2021 1:01 pm

Hello!

This week we have a slightly different, more informal, episode for you: myself, Josefine and Andreas (our "audio guy") having a conversation that looks back on what we've learnt since starting What The Denmark.

For those who have newly discovered the podcast, the topics we've investigated so far are:

  • Duvets: Why do Danish couples sleep with separate duvets?
  • Flat hierarchies: The pros and cons of a high trust Danish workplace
  • Making friends (Part 1): How coconuts and peaches help explain Danish friendships
  • Making friends (Part 2): Practical advice on making friends with Danes
  • Danish humour: Why can Danish humour be so confusing to non-Danes?
  • Getting a job (Part 1): Are Danish companies overlooking international talent?
  • Getting a job (Part 2): Practical advice on how to get a job (in Denmark)
  • Esther from the Netherlands: "Why Danish people wave when they ride a bike?"
  • Handball: How the sport encapsulates Danish culture

The episode ends up being a really nice (dare we say "hyggelig") format, as we were able to go off on tangents and reflect on what other people have been saying on the show.

For example

  • Are all Danish organisations flat hierarchies? Josefine shares her experiences from the Danish army
  • Which episodes have been most popular? Certain topics are resonating with a US and UK audience
  • Topics for new episodes: a peek into our spreadsheet database of episodes we hope to make in the future

as well as tons of other things..!

You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other podcast apps.

What happens next?

We're taking a break to expand the team and get sponsorship.

I'm not sure when we'll be back, but it hopefully won't be too long. In the meantime, if you know anyone:

  • interested to work with us you can send them here
  • any organisations interested in teaching the world about Danish culture, or helping attract/ retain international talent in Denmark then be in touch via wtd@cofruition.com

As always, you can read more about the show and the episodes we've made on www.whatthedenmark.com

Speak soon

Until then, a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the show and been in touch!
