Giving Back | Whittier Bradford

Another successful clinical for the UVI nursing students from St. Croix! 🎉

University of the Virgin Islands instructors Patricia Burke and Marie Martin accompanied nursing students Alicia, Earlein, Mikhaila, Uchenna, Keziah, Anaijah, Juleen, Makeba, Lakeesha, and Ayana for a week as they gained valuable clinical time with us at Bradford. When this amazing group flew back to St. Croix, we wished them all the best in their nursing careers, and told them we hope to see some of them return to work on our team! For more about this partnership, read our story from last year.

Service Spotlight | Whittier Way

A realistic community re-entry area that allows patients to practice everyday skills needed for a successful return to daily living.

Whittier’s acute rehabilitation hospitals in Bradford and Westborough each have a unique controlled indoor setting where our physical and occupational therapists help patients progress and practice personal care tasks and skills such as cooking, washing dishes, and laundry. Whittier Way is available for patients who are with us for inpatient rehabilitation, and for those who still need therapy on an outpatient basis.

Transitions | From Inpatient to Outpatient

Whittier provides a continuum of care to ensure you receive the treatment you need once you are discharged from inpatient.

The doctors that provide care for you while an inpatient will order therapy for you based on your needs. This could include either occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, or all three of the disciplines. Case managers will send the orders for therapy down to the outpatient department. Outpatient admissions coordinators will complete the intake and secure a date for your evaluations. Our insurance team will process your insurance before your arrival date. All you have to do is show up! Our compassionate team of therapists will be ready to welcome you on your healing journey. We’re here for you at Whittier!

More about Outpatient

Did you know?

In addition to our Amputee and ALS group meetings, we also offer a weekly Aphasia group at our Westborough location. If you or a loved one has Aphasia and think you may benefit from group therapy, please contact our outpatient department for more details at (508) 871-2077.

Did you know that YOU are in charge of your hospital discharge planning process? Under current Medicare requirements, a hospital discharge planner must, if possible, honor a patient’s goals and preferences in the discharge planning process, including where to be discharged to. Read our story for more information.

Did know that Whittier Westborough offers Outpatient Physical Therapists mother’s hours this fall? A career at Whittier offers flexibility along with quality, consistency, and a sense of purpose. Joining us on a per diem basis is a great chance to join a team that offers support and celebrates the contributions of our staff! Check our job listings here
