The Spiritual Secret of Hudson Taylor now in Khmer!
“God uses men who are weak and feeble enough to lean on him.” — Hudson Taylor
I remember reading as a child about the life of Hudson Taylor, the pioneering missionary to China in the mid-1800s. He struck me as a man of great faith—someone who placed the gospel at the very center of his life, even changing how he dressed in order to reach more people for Christ.
Now, having served as a missionary for over twenty years, I know firsthand that the path is not all mountaintops; there are many valleys too. Hudson Taylor experienced this deeply. Four of his eight children died young, as did his first wife. During the Boxer Rebellion, fifty-eight missionaries and twenty-one children from his mission were killed. In the midst of such sorrow and suffering, it would have been easy for Hudson to lose hope.
But he did not because his hope was in another:
“I looked to Jesus and saw (and oh, how joy flowed when I saw!) that he had promised, ‘I will never leave you.’ ‘Ah, there is rest,’ I thought. . . . it’s amazing to be truly united with a risen and exalted Savior and to belong to Christ. Consider what this means. If Christ is rich, can I be poor? Can your right hand be rich while your left is poor? Or your head be well-nourished while your body starves? . . . He will provide grace for the easy positions and enough for the most challenging ones” (The Spiritual Secret of Hudson Taylor, p. 117-119).
It brings me great joy to share that our team, in partnership with OMF (the missions organization Hudson Taylor founded), has translated and released The Spiritual Secret of Hudson Taylor in Khmer. Would you join us in praying that the Lord would use this book to strengthen the Cambodian church and ignite in many hearts a passion for the lost—both near and around the world? May God raise up a generation of Cambodian believers who will be sent out for His glory. And perhaps one day, we’ll publish a book glorifying Him for all He has done through them.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. It is through your partnership that we’re able to continue producing resources like this—to the glory of Christ.
