🎾 my step-by-step overhead progression (new video!)

Nov 17, 2025 12:01 am

Hi ,

Today, I am sharing with you my step-by-step method for teaching the overhead.

The overhead is one of the most challenging tennis strokes because it requires good footwork, ball tracking, and timing, all of which are difficult, especially for beginners.

In the following video, I’ll show you exactly the 5-step method for teaching the footwork, tracking the ball, and the overall technique I use with my beginning students. I try to keep it as easy as possible for them to hit overheads in no time.

Watch the new video:

This Is How I Teach The Overhead (Step-by-Step) <<

Let me know in the comments, under the video, if there is anything you would add to my 5-step lesson - maybe more emphasis on the footwork, tracking the ball, etc.

By the way, the progression you will see in the video can be done with a coach, a tennis partner willing to feed balls for you, or…

with a ball machine.

My favorite ball machine is the Pongbot Pace S Pro, which I consider the smartest tennis robot there is right now. I’ve been using it since the beginning of tennis season this year, and I am absolutely impressed.

I can tell you about its features, or I can just invite you to visit their website, where you will discover all it is capable of. I'll mention one thing that you might find very helpful:

The Pongbot tennis robot comes with an app, and inside is a big community building thousands of drills, all available for people to share, vote, and apply within seconds. It is really the ultimate way to practice tennis and improve your skills.

And the even better news is that if you want to get your own Pace S Pro tennis robot, they now have a 40% discount, which is their biggest sale of the year.

Click here for more details, and if you decide to get your own Pongbot ball machine, use my special code CTT5 to save an extra 5%, which is a huge saving!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reply to this email. I personally respond to all the messages.

Enjoy the week ahead!

Best regards,
