🎾 5 tips and tricks for more spin (top & under)

Hi ,

Have you ever watched a player hit the ball with so much spin that it kicks up hard off the court, and wondered how they do it?

Of course, the basics matter: swing low to high for topspin, or high to low for slice. But to really add that “heavy” spin that makes the ball jump after the bounce, there are a few extra keys to keep in mind:

  1. Thinner strings bite more into the ball, creating extra rotation.
  2. A loose wrist lets the racket whip faster through contact, resulting in effortless spin.
  3. Lower tension gives the strings more grip on the ball for extra spin.
  4. Shaped polyester strings grab the ball better than round ones.
  5. And… a wider string pattern actually does help with more spin too!

👉 This week, I also posted a new video where I show two solo tennis drills you can do with a ball machine. These are perfect for preparing for upcoming matches and improving consistency under pressure.

And if you’ve been thinking about getting your own ball machine, this is the best time!
