Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...

Christmas is Coming: The Gift of Disruption

image

This sermon reminds us that while Christmas is often filled with joy and togetherness, for many it’s a time of loneliness and pain. Drawing from the life of Jesus, we learn that loneliness is a temporary experience, not a permanent identity. God meets us in our most broken moments, offering peace, healing, and purpose. Through Jesus, we can navigate loneliness and find strength, as He promises never to leave or forsake us.

This year we have limited space for Christmas at One City and we need to plan accordingly. To help us accomplish that, we are asking everyone to register to attend Christmas at One City this year. Please let us know how many people you expect to have with you and register today. It will be a MASSIVE HELP.

  1. Matthew 14:13 - "When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place."
  2. Psalm 34:18 - "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
  3. Deuteronomy 31:6 - "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

3 THINGS TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT LONELINESS

  1. God Understand Loneliness - Jesus endured ultimate isolation, from being mocked and rejected to dying on the cross alone. Yet, He remained focused on His purpose, reminding us that our purpose is greater than our loneliness.
  2. God Meets Us in Loneliness - Psalm 34:18 promises that God is close to the brokenhearted. Loneliness creates space for God to work in us, stripping away distractions and drawing us closer to Him.
  3. God Never Leaves Us in Loneliness - Deuteronomy 31:6 assures us of God’s unwavering presence. Even when we feel abandoned, God remains active in our lives, ready to rebuild and restore what is broken.

From Sermon to Action

True transformation requires surrendering fully to Jesus, allowing Him to own every part of our hearts and lives. Repentance is the path to experiencing the peace and purpose God has for us.
