Hi everyone,

I hope you're having a great week. This week, I had a horrendous migraine so I unfortunately didn't get a whole lot of writing or editing done, but I did get Amy's Rebellion back from the editor. For those who are on my ARC and beta reader list, keep an eye out for an email from me next Sunday.

My emotion witch short story did not get finished in time for the anthology, but I am still working on it. Once it's finished, I'll post it in the newsletter like I did with the vampire story.

This month, I'll be working on my Campnanowrimo projects, editing the prequel story for Amy's Rebellion, and editing Amy's Rebellion itself.

Also, since as of today I've heard back from 1 person regarding the giveaway (Congrats Val!), I will give you all a few more days to try for the prizes.

Here are the prize options:

Option 1- Copy (e-book) for any of my books/ stories

Option 2 (U.S. only)- a print of one of the character arts I had commissioned.

To enter, send me your answer to any of the following questions:

  1. What was the original title for "Rose is Spellbound?"
  2. What was the convention I went to launch my debut book?
  3. Where did I have this newsletter hosted before Sendfox?
  4. Bonus question: What is something I put in every email now, but that I didn't used to add?
  5. Bonus bonus question: What state am I from? (not talking about a state of depression, but ya that too :p)

Amy's Rebellion First page (Post Developmental editor)

Amy stared up at the shining violet letters that read "The Gem of the Forest" above the front door of her shop. She sighed and stepped through the Amethyst geode that doubled as the front door to the shop. The magic barrier that protected the place from malicious magic shimmered and parted to let her through. She flipped the sign hanging from the glass front window from open to closed.

The shelves near the glass display cases were strewn with a plethora of essential oils. A frequent customer whistled to get her attention, and she turned to see Asher’s tanned shaved head as they mouthed a “Thank you.” while holding up the hand of their girlfriend.

A rose quartz choker clung to the girlfriend’s neck and Amy mouthed back a “You’re welcome” before slinking into the workshop portion of her store. Away from the gaze of snooping magicless humans.

She tucked her hair into a ponytail and was soldering some silver around one of her favorite gemstones, a black cat's eye when the door chimed. “Was the closed sign not enough of a hint? Maybe I need to start warding this place against humans as well.” She muttered.

Amy looked at her enchanted Jasper and saw a pale hunched over man with oily brown bangs covering his eyes. “Earl’s wife must be at it again. Will he ever learn?” She shook her head and plastered on a smile before peeking out of her workshop to see him.

“Hey Earl. Is everything okay? I’m supposed to be closed at this hour.”

Earl sniffled and wiped away tears. “I think she might be cheating on me...again.”

Amy pressed her lips together. “Alright I’ll take this one order just for you, but don’t go telling anyone else about it. If the sapphire didn’t work, you’ll want a black cat’s eye pendant this time. Just trust me on this.”

His lower lip quivered. “Thank you. I’ll do it. How much is it and how soon can you get it to me?” He held out a few twenties.

She accepted his money with a smile. "What you have there will cover it. I'll have it ready for you in a few days."

“Thank you.” He shook her hand with sweaty palms and plopped the money onto the table before leaving through the front door.

Amy wiped sweat off her palm. “He’ll never learn, will he?”

Once he’d left, she locked the door behind him and went back to her workshop. She held her hand steady as fused the last bit of silver to the black cat's eye gem in a tight circle. It warmed her hand, purple magic swirling around its surface as she recited the enchantment for wisdom. It wouldn't save his marriage, but the pair of gems would give her some kindness and him some desperately needed happiness and maybe even the willpower to move on from her.

Amy smiled as she looped a silver chain around the finished pendant and crimped both ends before adding a clasp. When she held the necklace up to the light, a thin slit of white went down the center, resembling the slit pupils of a cat. “Make sure to take good care of him,” she whispered before putting the necklace in a white velvet box and closing it. She packaged the extra watch she’d thrown in as a gift separately for him.

The cat’s eye in the wrist watch made her think of the cat’s eye pocket watch Night used to carry. Amy pursed her lips as she put the box away.. “I hope you’re still alive and out there somewhere.”

END OF EXCERPT

I hope you enjoyed the first page. Look forward to seeing more while I carry out my Campnanowrimo challenge.

That's all I've got for this week.

Now, I have a question for you.

What kind of artwork would you like to see for "Amy's Rebellion?"

I definitely think I want to have a map of the magic world commissioned, but I want to know what character art you'd like to see. These will be given away with any signed print book purchases. What are some characters or couples that you'd like artwork of? I'm partial to having artwork of gemstone forest commissioned.

If you haven't already nabbed "War of the Twin Swords" and want a copy, let me know and I'll send a copy your way through Book funnel ^^.

And if you want to see even more content from me, you can check out my Patreon as well.

That's all I've got for you today. Have a great day and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Julia

This one sounded like interesting, and it's a series. Here's the one line pitch for ya:

Dream-jacking ghosts. Soul-sucking monsters. Treacherously charming rebels. And one death-obsessed girl who’s done following the rules.
