Hi everyone,
I hope you're having a great week. This week, I had another writing job try out this time as a script writer for a massive travel vlogger, Nas Daily. I'm super excited for this try out, so fingers crossed that it works out.
This week, I decided I'm going to add onto a story you've already seen for Kindle Vella, Snow White's Captive. I'm going to be sending these stories out to a few trusted beta readers before publishing each chapter, so if you'd like to join the team keep an eye out for that email in the coming weeks. I'll be working on the next "episode" of the story next week before giving it a good self-edit and then I'll be sending it off to betas, so those that opted in for betas and ARCs keep an eye out for an email from me around Mid to end of May.
As far as Amy's Rebellion editing goes, I'm getting really close to the end. I'm at around page 120 now, and I'm hoping to hit 130 by the end of this week.
And I officially turned 28 and treated myself to some new books including "The School for Good and Evil."
For anyone that was excited for the livestream yesterday, it was unfortunately cancelled since that charity turned out to be doing some shady things like plagiarizing work from other people.
And today I have the first page of chapter four. If you want to read the whole chapter, I'll have a google docs link at the end of the excerpt. Enjoy!
Amy's Rebellion Chapter 4 (Post Developmental edits)
Amy’s stomach grumbled, and she looked down at her watch. It was 3:00pm. It's been almost two hours and she still isn't back with my food. What gives? Just as the thought crossed her mind, A little raccoon with rainbow ears scurried towards the shop with a wrapped-up sandwich in its mouth. You've got to be kidding me.
Sure enough it was none other than Iris scratching at the door. She opened the door and Iris scurried in. They dropped the wrapped-up sandwich into Amy’s outstretched palm.
Amy scratched at Iris's head. "Hopefully, no one saw you transform. I really don't want to siphon any memories today."
Iris shook their head.
"Good." Amy snorted.
Amy scooped Iris up and brought them back behind the counter. "You're lucky I keep extra clothing for you in case something like this happens."
At that point Iris transformed. Their transformation was on purpose?
As Iris turned back into their human form. They were shaking from head to toe, and the color had gone from their face. “You may have to fight after all.”
Amy ran over to the door and changed the sign from open to closed. She could deal with any grief from customers later. Amy shook Iris’s shoulders. "What do you mean I might have to fight? What happened?"
Iris rubbed their arms as if trying to keep the cold off of their skin. "When I went to get your food, I ran into Opal. She was carting Garnet’s limp body away through a back alley near the sandwich shop. I turned into something inconspicuous so I could get away."
“No. No. No. Turn the open sign off. I’ll call Naru, maybe she knows what happened. I just need to find my phone. Where is it?” Iris flipped the open sign off and locked the door as Amy pawed around her desk drawers and peeked under the counter. Iris squinted at the chair and pointed at the cushion. “Uh Amy. Your phone is on the chair, you were sitting on it again.”
“Oh, thank goodness. You’re a lifesaver.” With shaking hands, Amy unlocked the phone to see Naru had sent several panicked texts and she had a voicemail from an unknown number. “Iris can you play the voicemail, please?”
Iris held out their hand for the phone. “Sure. Give it to me.”
They placed the phone on speaker and Opal’s voice crackled on the line. "I have your sister. I'll make you a deal. Your life for hers."
Amy’s voice shook. "I’ll kill her for this. Let’s leave for the magic world now.”
END OF EXCERPT
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt. Here's the link for the whole chapter if you want to read the rest. Keep an eye out for another preview next week.
That's all I've got for today.
Now, I have a question for you.
If you were in a book or TV show, which character do you think you'd be?
I think I'd be a chaotic bi disaster like "cough cough" Luz or maybe the genderqueer shapeshifter with a penchant for mischief like Loki or Double Trouble.
And if you want to see even more content from me, you can check out my Patreon as well.
That's all I've got for you today. Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
