Hi everyone,
Happy Saturday. Last weekend ended up being pretty productive. I spent time at a friend's house, fully masked up of course, and we cranked out the first chapter for "Gourmet Hunters." I also sent out all physical copies for the "Amy's Rebellion" blog tour. Dusk is finally getting his own book cover for the Gemstone Massacre series. My taste and smell are still off, but they're slowly getting back to normal. Also, if you are a beta reader or reviewer, I have a small gift for you. It's a physical gift, so you'll need to reach out to me with a physical address to receive it. I've already put the first two gifts in the mail.
In writing news, Snow's Captive episode 8 is officially live. The rafflecopter giveaway ended so you can click the link to see who won. This week I got a chapter and a half done one from Grimhilde's POV and the other will be from Indigo's or Thorn's POV. I haven't decided yet.
To end today's email, I thought I'd share a small snippet from the new story, Gourmet Hunters:
Snippet
The flimsy net that had been wrapped around the horned dragon's neck snapped as it thrashed about. As the massive creature bared its teeth and pawed at the ground with its claws, I glanced over to Tim and shouted. "Can you hurry up with the sedative before I get skewered?"
With an angry grunt, he shouted. "I'm working as fast as I can here. Just hold it off for a few more seconds. I gulped and backed away as the creature's chest puffed up." I held my breath when it charged towards me and brandished the only weapon we could afford, a butcher's knife.
The dragon spewed fiery breath, and I rolled out of the way. My skin burned, and I looked down to see fire singing the end of my sleeve. I smacked the sleeve against the ground until the fire went out and shook the butcher's knife at the dragon. "That was my favorite shirt, you big ugly jerk."
The dragon turned its gaze back to me and I gulped. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it."
Its mouth opened wide to reveal gleaming teeth inches from my face, but before it could snap its jaws at me Addison used the harpoon we usually used for fishing and charged at the massive dragon with a loud yell that made the creature turn its head toward them.
Tim held up the sleeping potion and crept over to the dragon's nest. He better hurry up or else we won't get a chance to serve those dragon's eggs for our special client's meal tomorrow.
I clutched the butcher's knife tight to my chest and then dove for the dragon's knees with the knife. The blade bounced off the dragon's scales and cracked down the middle. I smacked my fist against the dragon. "Now you're really in trouble. That was one of my good butcher's knives and now it's broken. Do you think money grows on trees huh?" I smacked my fist against the dragon's leg and it smacked me to the side like a sack of grain. It's aqua wings unfurled and it started flapping them, pushing me away in a gust of wind.
Addison still clutched to the dragon, their harpoon still stuck in its hide. They clung on for dear life as the dragon lifted off the ground, and I shouted up at them. "Let go. I'll catch you."
They shouted back. "You can't even catch a baseball. No way, and I'm not leaving without getting my harpoon back."
END
That's all I've got for you this week. I just have a one more question for you.
What are your plans for this month?
I'm hoping to get the first 5 or so chapters done for Gourmet hunters and start publishing them on tapas. It will be interesting to see how that goes. If it does well as a web novel, we'll make a web comic for it too.
Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
