Hi everyone,
Happy Saturday! I hope you had a good week. So, I just started Preptober, and I officially picked my project. I'm going to be working on the next story in the Gemstone Massacre series (the placeholder title is Amy's Betrayal). This one is going to be a lot of fun to write since Dusk really gets more screen time and you get to see more of his morals and how his past shaped him. This will be my first big writing challenge this year that I'm attempting this year, and I'm a little nervous because I've been struggling with autistic burn out. Basically what that means is I've been doing what's called masking, and no I don't mean the kind we wear on our faces. Masking is when an autistic person has to consciously change their personality and behavior to fit in with non-autistic people. And it is exhausting. It takes a lot of sleep and being away from other people to recover and because I'm living with neurotypical family members, and I have really bad insomnia from having ADHD neither of those things has really been happening.
In a typical year, I probably clock about 150-200k words, but this year I'll be lucky if I hit 100k. But I'm okay with that. I've been able to really focus on finding a new job that makes me happier and where I don't have to hide my autistic and ADHD traits all the time just to pay bills.
On a less depressing note, this week I finally finished the edits for the Amy's Rebellion audiobook, so it's off to the editor yay. The Love triangle story for Vella has 4 episodes drafted now, and I'm getting excited about the launch. I don't have a new episode of Snow's Captive this week because I'm sending chapter's 16-20 to beta readers before I post my next episode. So if you're on my beta reader team, keep an eye out for an email from me tomorrow.
Here's the story preview for you. This one has some mention of alcohol, a bit of cursing, and flirting/kissing. No steam...yet.
That's all I've got for you this week. I just have a one more question for you.
What would you like to know about me and my writing?
What do you want to hear me about? I don't really have any quirky writing habits, but I did have an usual my wolf obsession in high school. Do you want to hear about some of the story ideas I have in the pipeline or my unfinished writing projects?
Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
