Hi everyone,
Happy Saturday. Sorry about the email yesterday. I goofed. I corrected the typo on the giveaway, so happy hunting! I hope you had a good week. So some good news. It turns out the insurance agreed to fix the car yay. I also think I'm starting to get the hang of my new writing job, so I'm pretty excited about that. Okay, so let's talk merch. I love making merch. So, I can't take credit for the book keychain. I originally figured out how to make it from a Youtube video, so if you want to try your hand at making your own you can check out the video that got me started. And Canva is my go-to for designing bookmarks. You can check out what the Alice bookmark I made looks like if you're interested. And I picked the games and prizes for the Halloween event!
Game 1 Rules:
Based on the results of the survey, I decided on a bookish scavenger hunt for our first event. Find and take pictures or screenshots of the list of things below. To get entered in the giveaway, you can email me the pictures.
- A book with a gemstone on the cover
- A book with something Halloween-themed on the cover like a pumpkin, bat, etc.
- A bookmark that has fall colors on it (orange, brown, yellow).
- A keychain, book, backpack, or something else with a book or book cover on it.
- A line from a book that describes something spooky
On October 30th, I'll pick two winners at random from the entries.
Prizes:
- a signed copy of "War of the Twin Swords"
- a bookmark that I'll custom make with your specifications. I will also give you an e-copy of any of the books I currently have available (apart from Vella stories).
Note: I can't make any super complicated designs for the bookmark because I am NOT good at drawing, but you'll be able to pick a favorite color, theme, animal, character, etc.
This week I started fleshing out Dusk's short story. I'm hoping to get that edited and sent out to you all next week as a Halloween goody. I'm also doing some preptober stuff to get ready for Nanowrimo.
That's all I've got for you this week. I just have one more question for you.
Are you participating in Nanowrimo this year?
I am and I'm super nervous. I haven't come even close to 50k words in a month this year, so I hope I meet the goal.
Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
Featured indie read-
I'm convinced this series was made for me. Elves, dragons, and assassins? Yes, please. It's 99 cents and on KU if you want to check it out. And the author is a friend of mine on Tiktok. You can check out all 3 books in the series here!
I also have this fairytale retelling by one of my favorite indie authors. My personal favorite short story of theirs is called "The Leap to Freedom." It's a fantasy adventure with a WLW (women loving women) romance.
