Hi everyone,

Happy Saturday! I hope you had a good week. I just came back from a writing conference with the 20booksto50k gang. I learned a bit more about self-publishing, so that was pretty cool, but I was a bit frustrated about the lack of safety precautions. Anyway, in my last survey, I asked you all what you wanted to see more of and a lot of people said writing tips and behind the scenes. This week I have some interesting behind the scenes information about the Gemstone Massacre series and about the Nymph's Revenge series paired with a writing tip that I've used myself. When I was in high school, I used to frequent online roleplaying message boards/ websites and "Gemstone Massacre series" was originally the backstory for a roleplaying website I ran. It was originally called "Blue Moons Collide." I tweaked a lot of things because the plot and story was so old, but this wasn't the first time I repurposed my old writing into something new. "Rose is Spellbound" was also from high school. It had started off as a short story. So, my weird writing tip of the day is don't throw it out. You may one day decide to recycle that story you wrote in high school. If I'd thrown those stories away, I wouldn't have written my debut novel.

Speaking of repurposed stories, I actually have one to share for you this week. It's a short story that I originally wrote for a Creative writing class in college about gemstones that control the ebb and flow of the tide. It's called Aquamarine Tide and you can check it out here. Please mind any typos as it's still on the 2nd draft. I'll send the final copy your way once it's completely done. And of course I have another Kindle Vella episode out for you, Snow's Captive episode 15 is officially live. If this one isn't your speed, I'm also working on a bisexual love triangle story for vella with a werewolf and a vampire. I just finished drafting the first chapter for it yesterday. Once I have 5-6 chapter drafted, I'll do an open call for beta readers.

That's all I've got for you this week. I just have a one more question for you.

What's something you want to know about author life?

Are you interested in the marketing and publishing side of things or do you want to more about my rituals? Let me know.

Have a great day and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Julia
