Hi everyone,
For those of you who celebrate, I hope you're enjoying Christmas. For those of you who are like me and don't celebrate, happy holidays. My Jewish behind will be recovering from burnout during this much needed time off work instead ^^. Just kidding...I'll probably be writing, editing, and making TikTok videos because I'm obsessed.
In case you didn't get a chance to enter my other giveaway, I'm going to keep the giveaway link here. It will stay open until New Year's Eve if you'd like to enter. I also have the usual free books and book promotions at the bottom of this email if you'd like to check them out.
Also, since the character art poster went unclaimed during the YouTube livestream (the winners of the giveaway wanted the cards instead), I will be giving out the lovely poster pictured below today. I will be making this one for U.S. only, but I'll have some international giveaways coming up soon just not with the posters. Here's how to enter the contest!
How to enter:
Email me at wanderingteacherbooks@gmail.com with your favorite quote, character, scene, or plot twist from any of my works. It can be from one of my free flash fictions too. Alternatively, you can also enter by posting the link to my book and recommending it on social media. Make sure if you do this to tag @wanderingteacherbooks on FB, Insta, and Tiktok or @Butterflysdust on Twitter.
You'll only need to give me your address if you win.
Best of luck! I will close the contest at the stroke of midnight on New Year's.
The artist's social media accounts are:
Insta : @chasbi_yumeina
Twitter : @mein132
in case you'd like to reach out to them for a commission of your own. They're super friendly and their prices are very reasonable.
On the writing front, I'm on chapter 12 of the first edit of "Amy's Rebellion" and I've gotten far past the 50k word mark for "Belladonna was Betrayed." The prequel to "Moon Vine" is now past 20k and there's still several major scenes to go. As for "Gabriel is Cursed," I have the deleted scene here for you as promised. This was an extra scene with Nightshade that I didn't end up using where Rose ended up fighting Nightshade alone and things took a bit of a darker turn. Fair warning this excerpt has some spoilers.
**** SPOILER ALERT *****
Deleted scene-
Nightshade laughed at the angry tattered woman that stood before him. “You think that killing me will keep your precious humans safe. There are millions ready to replace me to serve our cause. Your humans are corrupt and will reap what they’ve sown. You’ve seen the damage they can do.”
Rose thought about this a moment and the image of destroyed forests and sullied lands flashed before his eyes. His gaze fell for a moment, but then she stepped forward. “True no species is perfect, but at least I’ll feel better knowing you will not torment Gabriel or myself any longer.”
She materialized a dagger in her hand, one adorned with rose vines and before Nightshade could react she plunged it into his heart. He smiled, “Now you’re just like me,” He said with blood spilling from his mouth.
She smirked and whispered into his ear with a coldness that made her own blood freeze in her veins, “You’re mistaken. I’m much more powerful for I will succeed where you failed and completely wipe out the threat you’ve created...by force.”
The blood spilling from Nightshade's open wound stained Rose’s dress and she backed away from him. Her hands were shaking, but she wasn’t done yet. The body was destroyed but his plant wasn’t. She took the match from the mail carrying bag she’d borrowed and wrapped a cloth around her mouth as she approached Nightshade's plant, determined not to make the same mistake as Gabriel. She still needed to burn it.
Rose pulled out the ether she’d smuggled from the hospital and drenched the roots and trunk. She stepped back as she lit one of the matches and threw it directly into the liquid. The plant was immediately engulfed in flames and she cringed at the shrieking noise that Nightshade made as it burned. She stood back to a safe distance and only fully retreated once she was sure that the plant and Nightshade would be gone...for good.
Now, I have a question for you.
What are your plans for New Year's?
I'm going to have some sparkling cider, watch my favorite movies and try out any superstitions that can bring good luck in the hopes of having a better year in 2021. If you have any ideas, let me know!
That's all I've got for you today. Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
