Hi everyone,
I hope you had an awesome week. Over the past few days with tutoring students starting to go on break, I got to focus on getting into a better evening routine by doing some self-care stuff like face masks and having some hot tea before bed. As far as work goes, I got contracted to do some graphic and web design. It's been an interesting experience to say the least, full of plenty ups and downs. My friend's holiday gifts starting coming in, so I've been working on packaging those up, and got a lead for some editing work from a previous client.
Event wise, I agreed to do a fun Christmas event with a bunch of other authors. There will be games and tons of prizes including bookmarks, other author goodies, and $300 worth of gift cards. Below is the banner with the dates and you can click it to opt in to the event on Facebook.
On the writing front, I did some editing for "Rose is Spellbound" and edited and posted the next chapter for "Poisoned by Love's Bite" and "Snow's Captive." I'm super excited to get back to working on these two serials to see how they unfold and I have a bit of a special surprise for chapter 6 of "Poisoned by Love's Bite," so keep an eye out for that.
My behind-the-scenes look at my writing for this week is that indie publishing is a lot easier if you're willing to and enjoy learning new things. You'll gain a lot of additional skills as an indie author especially if you want to keep costs down. In my time as an author, I've dabbled in some light graphic design, organic social media marketing, ad design and optimization, SEO, social media outreach, and newsletter creation. Plus, I brought in my previous web design experience to make my own author website. Some background on that skill is my high school was a tech magnet, so we had to learn Dreamweaver before graduating. I got the certification for it, and I believe we also did a photoshop certification, or something of that nature. Oh, and I took coding classes as a teen.
That's all I've got for you this week. I just have one more question for you.
Do you have any evening rituals that you do before bed?
I'm partial to chamomile tea with honey, and lavender everything from bubble baths to roll on essential oil sticks.
Have a great day and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Julia
