BOOK RELEASE: How to Start an Online Business and Live as a Digital Nomad in Thailand & Vietnam

In 2017, I was living in the Twin Cities of Minnesota when I decided to sell all of my belongings and buy a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia.

I had recently experienced a job loss and didn't want to return to corporate.

I wanted to create my own pathway by becoming an entreprenuer and not be bounded by a boring 9-5.

Inspired by Johnny FD, an online content creator and digital nomad living in Thailand, I aspired to make a living through online businesses.

By August 2017, I landed in Chiang Mai, the digital nomad capital of the world in northern Thailand.

Chiang Mai attracts thousands of digital nomads---online Youtube creators, course creators, ecommerce business owners, SEO digital agency owners, etc.---because of the low cost of living, networking opportunities, and supportive environment.

After being based there for six months, I moved to Danang, Vietnam to continue my digital nomad journey.

Danang is a very liveable, up and coming coastal beach city where seafood is adundant and plenty of outdoor attractions to keep one preoccupied.

I enjoyed riding my road bike along the beach front and into the hills nearly every morning, followed by journaling and sipping coffees at a cafe, before working the rest of the day on my online projects.

After a year in Danang, I decided to move to a more cosmopolitan hustle and bustle in Ho Chi Minh City.

HCMC offers a night life and dating life like no other.

There were plenty of eateries, bars, night clubs, and social networking events to keep me on my toes.

Living in the city-center, I enjoyed the convienent serviced apartment amenities which included weekly cleaning, taking Grab rides (similar to Uber), and having food delivered to my apartment several times a week---all for $1,200/month.

During my nearly six years in total abroad (including over Covid lock-down), there were a lot of ups and downs and plenty of mistakes along the way.

With that spirt, I created a book about my digital nomad journey so that others can learn from my mistakes, advice, and suggestions.
