Hey tribe,

I know how daunting it may seem to try to go from novice to tech-savvy. I was there once. It feels like a big feat, but honestly, it’s not so difficult. Here, let me show you.

When I decided to become tech-savvy, I realized that I needed a strategy to help me learn almost anything. Here are some of the things that I did that helped me go from a beginner to tech-savvy:

  1. Google it: Google is your friend. Whenever I come across something I don't know, I ask Google. Chances are that someone out there has asked the same question before, and a solution has been proffered.
  2. YouTube: YouTube is an excellent platform to learn almost anything. You can find videos on how to get things done, and the best part is that you can watch someone do it in real time. This boosts your morale and makes you feel like you can do it too. β€” You actually can if you follow a step-by-step tutorial.
  3. Skillshare: Skillshare is a more advanced version of YouTube because it offers real courses as opposed to one-off tutorials. The courses are structured in a way that allows you to learn and deliver projects. I recommend a Skillshare subscription to anyone trying to learn anything. Get a one-month free trial here.
  4. Udemy/Coursera: These platforms are alternatives to Skillshare. They have a more robust library and offer the option of buying courses. So instead of a monthly subscription, you can buy single courses and have access to them for life. If you are willing to invest some money into your learning, these platforms are excellent.
  5. Advanced private courses: Sometimes, you need more hand-holding than the standard Udemy/Coursera courses can offer. In such situations, an advanced private course might be what you need. You get to work with a tutor who pays attention to you and your specific needs.
  6. Be consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to learning anything. You can't expect to become tech-savvy overnight. Make a plan and stick to it. β€” Even if you can only devote 10-20 minutes daily to improving a skill, it will result in a remarkable result over time.
  7. Be intentional about improvement: Never be satisfied with just knowing how to do something. The digital world changes faster than you change your underwear. Stay curious, and continue learning new things. Devote time to learning and improving your skills EVERY DAY.

Trust me, if you implement tips 6 and 7 consistently, you will outperform most tech-savvies in Nigeria. It's not as difficult as it sounds. Start small and work your way up. With time, you'll be surprised at how much you've accomplished.

That's it for now. Good luck on your journey to becoming tech-savvy. Remember, consistency and intentional improvement are the keys to your success.

PS: I’m supposed to be studying for a calculus exam right now, but I needed to talk to you guys first. Wish me luck!
