Veheuren - the bitterness of the Ghothars (plus a special announcement)

Hi everyone,
Welcome to another week of exploring the Arcverse. One of my abiding questions (as a former history teacher of many years) is 'how did these big things, war, empires, revolutions, debt etc - change the little things?
Or, what do ordinary people make of the things that shape their lives? This is always for me a more interesting question than what the great men or women of history did or thought.
In the Arclands universe each adventurer comes from somewhere with its own struggles, sorrows, triumphs and memories and part of the job of creating a deep role playing experience is finding ways to talk about this.
Sometimes I write about monsters, sometimes I write about magic, sometimes I write about gnawing feelings of national resentment and inferiority - it really depends which day you get me.
Anyway, today's exploration is the sentiment in Ghotharic language known as Veheuren, a feeling that all Ghothars know but few outsiders really understand. It's a product of history, hunger and war. If you have a Ghothar character, there is little doubt they have this feeling from time to time, especially if they wander through the streets of Arc.
The Arclander Volume II
We are but weeks away from the second edition of the Arclander, in which we will bring you:
- Three new character origins (the furry beasts the Khogan, always up for a fight but with terrible timekeeping issues. The aquatic Yellish, freshwater friends to humanity, and their deep water cousins the Oriads, who probably aren't).
- Two new character classes - the Bloodbinder base class and the adventurer and raider Corsair subclasses
- An all new Wanderer's Guide adventure
- A new feature on the Hipostic Knights
- Chapter Two of The Mill Lands: Shadow and Steel
More cool stuff to come later this week, but until then comrades,
Forge Your Power
