Hi folks,

Apologies for the brief absence, I've been moving house over the last few days and now live in a small place that has the curious feel of Bag End to it, here in Wales.

I have no plans to open my door to a travelling band of dwarves or visit the Lonely Mountain, so hopefully further interruptions can be avoided.

As ever, we have lots of new subscribers to the Arcverse and so it's customary at least once a week to say a huge welcome to everyone. If you have your copy of Arclands: The Spellforgers Companion or The Book of the Graces we hope you're enjoying them and learning the art of Spellforging. We wrote this article a while back, full of Spellforging ideas and suggestions and archetype spells for you to use.

Arclands Plans

As many of you will know, we're currently writing our own setting neutral multiverse system which incorporates a fast cinematic style of game play. This system, called Psion, will have four game universes ready to play and the systems for GMs to create their own:

Deadwyrm: Frozen sci fi western style horror.

The InCapeables: Dark apocalyptic super hero.

Grifters: Gaiman style urban fantasy

Arclands: - Fire and Fate: Dark fantasy in the time of the Dredger.

There will always be a 5th Edition version of the Arclands world available to play and we aim eventually to put all our 5th Edition materials online. When we adapt the system to Psion it will run on a new core mechanic, but there will be some fundamental differences in tone and focus. We will bring to the game a new approach to spellforging, spell casting, enchanting and finding the precious sigils needed to create new magic. Wilderness travel, survival, language, lore, culture and unfamiliarity will also be key new parts of the system. The players will exist in darker, more desperate times and will have to fight for the future.

We had initially planned to publish the Book of the Phantasm, Fey and Damnation as 5th Edition titles, but events earlier this year with the OGL crisis rather stole a march on us. We crowdfunded Phantasm so that will go ahead as planned (we are looking to complete the book this autumn, it's running behind schedule at the moment). However, with the Book of the Fey and the Book of Damnation, we will be doing the following.

• The lore will be published for free on our World Anvil site
• A selection of new classes and origins will be published in the Arclander
• The remaining content (adventures, key locations, NPCs etc) will go on the subscribers only section of the Arclands World Anvil - to be relaunched in September).

The eventual goal is to produce an Arcverse guide to the Five Dimensions for Psion that will incorporate the entire multiverse following the Dredger War.

This week, it's been a relatively slow one on the blog (after I'd finished unpacking I twisted my ankle, meaning everything was about 25% more long winded).
