The why that keeps me moving on those days...

Hey there ,

Today is my daughter's birthday.

A few years ago I wrote a post in my group that I woke up thinking about today, because it was true then, and it's true now - maybe even more so now that she's turning 11 rather than 9.

Here's what I wrote then:

Today this girl, my girl, is 9.

(**actually, this is her at 11...)

When people ask me why I coach I tell stories about my path from teacher to business coach, and about how coaching has always been a role that followed me.

These days, the more I think about my answer, it's really for her.

Yes, I have two kids, and yes, my business doing well is good for my whole family.

In the end, though, my business doing well - growing, earning, exceeding expectations - while I also teach and mom and do all the other things, is for her.

More than anything I want her to have an example of what's possible.

I want her to know that you can do the thing that is right for you, do the things you love, figure out what you need from life, and then find a path that suits you to a T.

I want her to see that you can do it YOUR way, build a community around you that you love and loves you back, and be WHOLE while earning money.

I want her to experience a world where you can do all of this and still be present with friends and family, get support, and surround yourself with love rather than mean girl bullshit.

And it doesn't hurt that all my coaching skills are starting to come in REALLY handy as we hit the feelings that come with being a pre-teen (and yes, I'm sure also a teen) girl.

So today, we'll celebrate her AND possibility.

Because that's why I'm here.

I want her to KNOW that she can do any damn thing she sets her mind to.

And so. can. you.

Today, I'm reminded that this is still so much my why.

It's still the case that I want her to be able to look at me, my business, and the way I work and see OPTIONS for herself.

I want her to see the range of what's available and to know that if the box she's being offered doesn't fit that she can MAKE HER OWN.

And it felt to me, today, that this post and some of the key ideas in it might be useful reminders for ALL of us:

  • YOU can do anything you set your mind to.
  • NO ONE is meant to do it alone - just no one expects my girl to raise herself you too deserve support in whatever form suits you best.
  • YOUR way is the right way. Period.
  • If the box you find yourself sitting in doesn't fit, get out and build one that does.

I believe in you.

There IS a path that suits you to a T.

And it IS safe for you to listen to yourself first before you listen to the experts.

Happy birthday to my girl, and happy Monday to YOU!

Warmly,

Sara

PS. If you know that your path is out there... but you're struggling to find it, or it's a tangled mess of brush and branches, let's talk.

You don't have to do it alone, and help CAN come in the form of some one who has also had to hack through the bushes to find her way (ahem...me...) and is now on the other side.

Turns out it's a lot less hacking when there are two brains involved, and I'm happy to put my brain to work for YOU.

When you're ready to talk coaching, hit reply, or book a time to talk here.
