Welcome to the April 9th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
Happy Easter.
First, let me apologise for sending this week's edition a little later than usual.
This is tied to the story of my week.
As part of the school holidays, we did a road trip to Gambia. And yours truly did the driving.
I am still recovering from my first road trip driving experience. But it was worth it.
We spent time with a family where our meeting was an act of serendipity.
On December 24th, we were visiting the museum with family members visiting us, when we ran into them.
They were visiting Senegal for the holidays and we discovered we were Nigerians.
Later that evening, I sent them a message asking if they would join us for a Christmas meal. They accepted and we had a jolly time together.
We kept in touch afterwards.
As I was planning the Gambia trip, I asked for their advice on possible Airbnb locations. They gave that and also offered to host us if we were open to that.
Does a duck swim?
It was great to connect with them during our stay. They were a blessing to us. Our kids and their kids were peas in a pod.
And now we have a family in Gambia.
God bless them.
Things I Learnt
1-Making Meals Work for Your Family: One of the new experiences during the trip to Gambia was having so many options for every meal time. Yes, the dining table was always filled with multiple meals.
The mother of the house told us how this originated. Her kids were picky eaters and getting them to eat was a challenge.
So, she decided to always provide various meal options every time - guarantees that they will find something on the table to eat.
And whatever is leftover during a meal gets rolled over to the next meal.
It ensures that there is no waste.
I was impressed.
Instead of complaining about the kids, she adapted what she offered to create a winnable situation.
The kids win by getting options to choose from and she wins by having kids that eat while also ensuring no food waste.
2-Renewed Through Fellowship & Friendship: We got back home just before 11 pm on Saturday. I was so tired I could not do the regular bedtime routine with the kids.
I just hit the sack.
I contemplated whether or not we should go to church.
We eventually went.
Just being in the church had a renewed effect on me. I felt a wind of energy in me.
Later in the afternoon, we visited with a family for an Easter meal.
We had accepted the invitation during the week before we discovered how tired we were upon arriving from Gambia.
So we kept our commitment.
And it was worth it.
I felt renewed just being with people. I didn't talk much and I am not the traditional extrovert
Well, now I understand more why God does not want us to live in isolation.
Postscript
May you find renewal through the simple blessings that God has placed on your way. Everyday. Amen
