Faith & Life Lessons - March 19, 2023

Welcome to the March 19th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

I got a reminder of the sort this week.

On Tuesday, something stirred up in me.

It was a reminder that beyond all the strategic actions I am taking to grow the business I am leading, there is a bit of warfare involved.

I bet you might think "non-Christians don't do that and yet they do great in business."

I will not speak about what happens to them.

I was reminded that when I arrived in this land, God gave me a promise.

A promise that has tremendous value for my family and the people I lead at work.

If God gave it to me, then I must expect to achieve it using all the resources that God has given me.

It includes mental capacity, emotional depth and spiritual insights.

This week, in addition to the first two, I had to bring the third into heightened focus.

And so for a couple of days, I kept praying until I felt that I had pushed something.

Every day, I got a text of scripture to focus my prayers.

The last text of scripture I got has put me in a position to stop pushing the fight.

Now I am waiting.

And resting.

As I continue to show up every day at work to create the best solutions for the people I work with and the customers we serve.

Things I Learnt

1-Trust People to Come up with the Best Ideas to Solve Their Problems: There was a new policy that we came up with for the benefit of the staff. One of the staff had a couple of issues in trying to get the policy to work for her.

The only thing I told her was this "we are committed to supporting you when you find a proposal that makes it work for you."

And in a matter of weeks, after knocking at a couple of doors, she sent me a proposal this week.

It's unique and a bit unusual.

But it's workable.

All I had to was wait for her to come up with the proposal.

This is one of the things I learnt after a few years of working. Don't in the way of people solving their problems.

If someone is not motivated enough to solve their problems, I am wasting my time coming up with an idea to help them.

So, I wait for as long as it takes them to find the motivation to act in their best interests.

Things move faster when they are pursuing ideas initiated because they were motivated to act in their best interests.

2-God Can Still Surprise: At the beginning of the week, I got an email which was a response to something that I had been working on for about 8 months.

The good thing is that I got more than I expected.

It was more aligned with the next season which I believe God wanted us to live as a family in the country we are in.

It is a reminder that God is more concerned about me than I could be concerned about myself.

No matter how much I think about myself.

And the future of my family.

God is more invested in it than I could be.

Postscript

May you live with the confident assurance that God is more concerned about you than you could be concerned about yourself. Amen
