Faith & Life Lessons - March 5, 2023

image

Welcome to the March 5th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

A few days can make a difference.

When the previous week ended, I wasn't fully satisfied.

There were a couple of initiatives that I had wanted to close out on which kept staying at the doorway.

Not all on me.

Working with other people outside my organisation means I have to adapt to their clocks.

It also means that I have to keep knocking at their door.

More often than I would have wanted.

Well, I spent Monday & Tuesday, this week, doing that.

And by Thursday, we broke the space-time continuum - metaphorically speaking.

We hit some wins.

Don't stop knocking at the doors.

Eventually, you'll get a few to open for you.

Things I Learnt

1-Replicating my Mind Virus: On Saturday evening, we were at a friend's birthday. One of the things that come with living as an expat in foreign countries is limited family support.

So without anyone to keep the kids with, most of us came with the kids to the birthday dinner.

And we all brought meals and drinks for everyone to share.

As part of the evening's fun, we played the game of Pictionary. For the uninformed, Pictionary is a fun game where players try to guess what other players are drawing.

We broke up into 3 teams with the kids all in one team.

At a point during the game, all teams were given 1 word to draw which members of our teams had to guess.

As it turned out, my son and I was drawing for our respective teams.

My team won but that's not the catch.

The word we had to draw was "hamster".

My son and I drew the same concept to our team - a wheel & a hamster.

It brought a huge laugh from the whole group.

It reminded me of something more intricate - the need to keep replicating the family mind virus in the minds of our kids.

They have to think like our family thinks - even if it's different from how everyone around them does.

2-Let Your Words be You: I did a social media post during the week.

A member of my team wrote a comment to say that what I wrote was exactly who I am.

It's good for people to like your words.

It's even better when the people that see you every day can say, your words are you.

Not a part of you from dream land.

But a direct representation of who you are.

It's something I keep pushing for every day.

Postscript

May you live a life of integrity so that your words become a full reflection of who you are. May people find trust in your words because you can be trusted. Amen
