Welcome to the August 21st edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
This was a week of God sending people to play their part in a way that helps me.
I could regal you with a couple of stories but let me share just one.
I came downstairs on Saturday to get the car ready for a trip to the doctor for the kids.
And there I saw it - I had a flat tyre.
The first problem was that I didn't know where all the tools to do the job were hidden in the car.
Yes, I say hidden because that's the best way to describe the places I eventually found them in.
The next thing was to do the thing.
I didn't have any experience with this car so I checked up with the best teacher for those who have internet - Youtube.
A video convinced me that I now knew all I needed to know.
As I was moving the car to a better spot for the job, my wife came downstairs.
While she was giving directions, a neighbor in the building drove into the parking - we used the same care.
She thought we should ask him for tips. I didn't think so since I had just watched a youtube video.
I was a flat-tyre changing guru certified by time spent watching a video.
She won and asked.
It turned out that it was the driver who was bringing the car in.
He didn't give us tips. He picked up the tools and did the whole changeover.
It turned out that my youtube teacher didn't assume some things - spare tyre lock refusing to come down, stiff bolts, and a few more others.
Man, I would have spent double the time doing it by myself instead of the pro doing it.
By the time he was done, I knew I had to give him something to show my appreciation.
He didn't want it, I would accept his refusal, so I won that fight.
What he did was worth more than he might know.
He told us where we could get the flat tyre fixed.
A few minutes later, we drove out with him following us.
Suddenly, he flashed for us to stop.
As it turned out, he was taking their car for some repairs.
He could also have then repaired our tyre at the same place.
We got back to find our tyre fixed and returned.
God sent Him. And I am grateful for the part he played
Things I Learnt
1-Gifts of men for Plans Made: One of my coaches/mentors sent me a message that he wanted to speak with me.
I was wondering what it would be for.
Anyway, I told him when I'd be free and we fixed a call.
First, he asked me where I was on a couple of areas I had spoken to him about earlier.
He gave me a couple of advice on some of the ways I was thinking of executing a major goal.
Then he told me a bigger reason for calling me.
According to him, in the last couple of days, my name has been coming up in his mind.
That's why he reached out to me.
He made an offer for me to join a higher level of working with him.
It wasn't just that. He made it in a way that made most of his fees dependent on me being able to achieve a target we set for the goal I was pursuing.
I was humbled by the whole thing.
I hadn't shared my goals with anybody except my wife.
God inspired someone else to rise and offer help. And the help was relevant and set up in a way that I could afford it.
God gives gifts of men and one of them rose to help me.
2-When Life Doesn't Roll Like I Hope: I have had so many things not working out how I planned out. The response I remind myself to always do is this - "do the next thing that creates value".
It could be as simple as showing up for a 9 am meeting and finding out that the guy I’m meeting is not yet at work.
Calling his phone, he asks for it to be moved to 10 am. I end up waiting for him till 11 am.
The waiting was not wasted. I created two great pieces of work during that time.
A case of making lemonade from lemons.
And that’s what I want to do more often.
Not gripe over what is not working the way I want or distract myself with social media.
But doing something else that moves me forward.
It's my way of "making the most of each moment God gives." Eph 5:16
Postscript
May you not be distracted by things that don't work out the way you want. May you remain focused to make the most out of every opportunity God brings your way. Amen
