Lately, it feels like absolutely everything wants a piece of my brain.
The news. Social media. Money. Business. Health. Family. Whatever fresh thing the internet has decided I need to be worried about today.
And yes, I probably spend more time on my phone than I should, but this feels bigger than screen time.
Breaking news is probably the biggest issue.
Yes, we need to know what's happening. We need to care. Much of what's going on affects our families, our communities, our finances, and the choices we're making every day. I am definitely not advocating for sticking our fingers in our ears and singing loudly until the world behaves itself.
But there has to be a middle ground between being informed and letting every awful headline move into our heads, unpack a suitcase, and start rearranging the furniture.
Because if we give breaking news unlimited access to us, it will steal our joy faster than your cat can knock your water bottle onto the floor.
