Hello again!
Hope you are well!
I've been busy re-reading my draft of 'Elvish Rebels', writing notes and wrapping my head around the changes I'll need to make.
So far, on a scale of 'total disaster' to 'excellent,' the parts I've read have ranged from 'decent' to 'mild disaster.' Which is great news!
It will hopefully be within my ability to make this book the best it can be, and if everything goes well, it shouldn't take too long either.
I know my strengths and weaknesses as a writer at this point. I've gone through this process seven-ish times before. The trickiest part for me is not necessarily fixing the terrible scenes and the massive plot holes. I know I can do alright editing those kinds of things.
No, my great weakness is fixing the scenes, characters, and plotting issues that are okay but not great. Those bits of the book that are 75% good enough ... after a long session of editing all the broken parts, that '75% good enough' slowly starts to look like '100% fine.' If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right?
The trouble is that those bits I 'let slide' because they're 'good enough' are usually the bits that crop up in feedback and reviews as the things that let the book down a little.
So I'm going to make an effort this time around not to let myself off the hook for the slight wobbles and mildly awkward moments and the somewhat clunky descriptions.
Until this one is ready, I'll keep providing you with books to read.
First on the list is one of mine, and it's on sale for 99c!

Their healer has died. Their forest is dying. They refuse to leave … even when soldiers come to take their land.
Riekalt the hunter has been grim since the death of his wife, the village healer. She gave her life to save the village, and now he can hardly sleep. Is it her he keeps hearing at night?
Something is killing the deer he hunts. Whatever it is, it's not natural.
When soldiers come from distant Gweidor to take their land, the villagers of Wolfshead Hill begin to know the end has come.
They claim to come in peace—but they come with a trail of corpses in their wake.
There is one desperate hope left to the village. Riekalt’s only son Laester shows glimmers of the powers that claimed his wife, but something is wrong. In the dying forest, the powers have become unstable, wild. If he cannot control or suppress the new magic … it might destroy him.
How can Riekalt hope to save his village, if it might mean the life of his son?
