Why REFLECTION Will Keep You Focused on Getting into Medical School

Hi ,
I hope that you are enjoying the nice summer weather (at least it's nice here in Ottawa, Canada). I want to encourage you RIGHT NOW! If you're reading this you most likely have an important goal, like becoming a doctor. There are many ups and downs along this journey, but it is worth it.
Reflection 🧐
In 2011, my cousin in Brazil allowed me to go into an operating room in Brazil and see 3 orthopedic surgeries. I thought it was really cool at the time and he was one of the people that inspired me to go into medicine. (This is the picture where I look skinnier and younger).😅
In 2016, I went back to brazil to actually shadow him and many other surgeons. I did an internship there for a couple of weeks and got 128 hours of OR time BEFORE I even went to medical school I learned how to suture, got to cut some bolts, and witnessed things I might never get the chance to witness again. It was an amazing experience.
In this other photo there is a take-out container. For lunch time I would go get lunch for myself and one of those days the person serving me wrote ‘Dr. Thiago’. They obviously thought I was a doctor because I was in scrubs. That got me so EXCITED! I remember reading that and cherishing that moment. Trying to feel what it would be to become a doctor (remember this was BEFORE I even got into medical school). 🔥🔥
I share this with you because I know there are many premeds following me. I want to encourage you to hang in there. Don’t be discouraged. Try to visualize your goals and then make a plan to accomplish them. It’s important that you FEEL this while you visualize yourself in the future. 😊
I wanted to share this with you because I remembered these photos, and they take me back to a moment where I didn’t know what the future looked like. But I trusted God, put in the work, and expected the best. 💯
If you are a student and your goal right now is to BECOME the best version of yourself to get that A+, that job, to apply to a professional school but you feel like you need some extra guidance to increase your high performance skills. If you want to get back 10+ hours of the week and overcome burnout, then feel free to reach out and ask me any questions.
