The solstice is coming up fast!

With the Wheel of the Year turning once more, it's time to plan and celebrate!

Here in the PNW, we're welcoming winter and Yule next weekend.

The longest night will be bringing the desire to hibernate and share the blessings surrounding us with others.

We are invited to reflect on the death of the old sun while anticipating it's rebirth into a new year. A cycle we can then embody in our own lives if we so choose.

This becomes such a magical time of the year.

There's truly nothing like the twinkle of lights through the crisp winter darkness. Be it bulbs on the tree or flames on the candles, those smaller lights remind us that the sun's warmth will return.

While the ways we celebrate are all unique, there's commonalities that truly honor the roots of this season.

Common themes between many traditional and cultural observance include an exchange of gifts. Decorating with evergreens and lights is another theme seen at this time.

Oh! And all the feasting and tasty treats! Honestly, I become possessed by the spirit of Mrs. Claus at this time. I felt the compulsion to bake overcome me days ago and now's the time!!

Giving gifts is one of the true joys we share right now.
