Mornin' Friends ๐,
last week I didn't send my weekly newsletter.๐คซ
Apart from the ongoing home renovation process (which I genuinely enjoy), I have decided to repaint and fix everything I could at my last rental apartment (fixing things from before my habitat there).
I think this will be a pleasant surprise for my landlord, a very kind old lady (and she has no idea that I am fixing her place). I've rent her space for the last five years, and she is like a step-grandma to me.๐
โป๏ธ Minimalism and Sustainability
Some may know, and some may not, but I got myself deeply into minimalism and sustainable living three years ago. I rarely buy things, and when I need something, I'll do some thrift shopping before paying full price for a brand new item.
Since I bought my new apartment fully furnished, I've decided to sell the furniture from the rental place. Wow. I couldn't believe how willing people are to buy discounted furniture in good shape. I love this. I call it the "pass it on" culture. Instead of throwing things away and buying new, pass them on to the next person willing to buy them. You do a favor to society by saving them money and a favor to the environment - one piece of garbage less on the street.
Also, I have found out that there are businesses that will come to your home, take all the unnecessary and old electronics you have (which otherwise you wouldn't be able to sell), they will pay for those items, and recycle them for free.
I will take advantage of this service, too (I will use the extra cash to buy 20kg and 24kg kettlebells for my home gym, but first I need to sell some items).
And this is an explicit rule in my life - before I buy a new or used item, I need to sell or donate the old one. Now my home is decluttered and free from stuff, "I may need someday."
๐ค Selling Two of My Niche Websites
Last week, when painting (painting puts me in a flow state, which clears my mind), I thought a lot about what's on my shoulders. What deserves carrying and pushing forward, and what pulls me back.
I always try to be honest and not to deceive myself with big future plans. 2020 clearly showed us that all we have is now. And I want my "now" now. I am adjusting my plans to what I want and need now, not to what I may need and want in the future.
Also, I have a story to tell regarding this decision. But I'll leave it for my Christmas newsletter. I hope I'll spread some honey and joy with that story.๐
๐ธ๏ธ UPDATE: Google's December Broad Core Update
Two weeks ago, I wrote that none of my websites had been affected by Google's December broad core update. Well, I was wrong. One of my websites (I am selling this one) is enjoying a nice surge in traffic, keyword's first positions, and more affiliate earnings.
The funny thing is that I haven't published a single new article for the website this year. And I haven't build a single link. But it was time for Google to recognize some of the articles and show them more love.
Now that I have missed twice sending my weekly newsletter (thankfully, not in a row), I've realized how much I enjoy writing this newsletter! Thanks for being here and reading it!
Friends, I wish you Happy Holidays! Unplug from the chaos of the modern world and spend lots of loving time with family and friends!๐
Talk to you next week! If you enjoy this newsletter, pass it on.๐
Own your future, Friends!
Mila ๐
๐ If you're enjoying my Donuts about Marketing newsletter, I'd love it if you shared it with a friend (or three). You can send them this link.
I'm always open to feedback and suggestions.
