Dear Perc.U.lator
Firstly, let me apologise! I totally failed to email you to let you know the fantastic Helen Jarvis was featuring in April. Please do yourself a favour (ta Molly Meldrum) and check out the book she recently launched:
I highly recommend attending any of her readings. She is thoughtful, measured, and frighteningly intelligent. Her lyricism and knowledge challenges me in interesting ways.
Now for May!
The indefatigable Yvette Stubbs will be featuring.
Here is a poet who, to quote Judith Rodriguez "has not forgotten real love, real pain.
" Yvette also understands the meaning of laughter to survival on this planet." (Kerry Scuffins)
"Yvette is a myth buster who celebrates noise and truth" (Laura Fisher)
"Yvette brightens up any poetry room and her sense of fun is infectious." (Michael Reynolds)
Yvette brings a revitalising energy to her performances and was a featured poet four times in Europe 2019. She has been a finalist in Poetry Idol, The Doris Leadbetter Poetry Cup and several others. Her poetry along with her visual art and voice are featuring as part of a multi arts/artists production in Ireland 2024. She is a published author and has an unpredictable, creative edge to her poetry and performance.
I hope to see you at a Perc.U.lations soon! Be there or be prose!

PS: Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are held on the second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m., with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 2 pm to 3 pm for anyone interested.
An 'open mic' is available for as many poets as possible before and after our feature (or as much poetry as we are happy to share before our time is up).
This gig is happy to celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers, too.
The venue for Perc.U.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong, about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also free parking behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.
This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public. Therefore, open-mic and feature presenters are asked to keep their works in this event's 'PG' range.
Perc.U.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event, and the open mic is open to anyone.
Perc.U.lations, is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we extend our respect to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.
