Perc.U.lations 8th of March, featuring Es Foong / Waffle Irongirl

We are delighted to introduce you to our March feature poet: Waffle Irongirl aka Es Foong!

Es Foong / Waffle Irongirl is a poet who writes about estrangement and belonging. They’ve featured in pages such as Best of Australian Poems 2022 and stages including Canberra Poetic City 2023. They want you to know that you are a wild, precious and unique expression of possibility and you are cherished. Their poetry collection “Clot and Marrow” is available from Recent Work Press. They live online at waffleirongirl.com.

Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are (usually) held on the second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m., with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 2 pm to 3 pm for anyone interested.

An 'open mic' is available for as many poets as possible before and after our feature (or as much poetry as we are happy to share before our time is up).

This gig is happy to celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers too.

The venue for Perc.U.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong, about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.

This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public. Therefore, open-mic and feature presenters are asked to keep their works in the 'PG' range for this event.

Perc.U.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event, and the open mic is open to anyone

.Perc.U.lations, is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunerong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.

You can support our feature poet by Paying as You Feel via:
