Instagram LogoDo you really want to know the answer when you ask someone "how are you"? . We've used this expression so often that it may be difficult for others to know what our intentions are in asking the question. . I was talking to someone one time and he asked me, “How are you?” And I responded, “Fine, and you?” I gave the typical response, which really didn’t address the intent of his question. So, he asked again, “How are you?” emphasizing the “how.” With his second inquiry, I got the point, and told him how I really felt. . He listened to me and made a few suggestions to make me feel better. . Moving on, I realized I am guilty of asking without meaning. Many of us are reluctant to tell others about their issues. So when they ask how are you, you know that they are just being polite and don't really want to know. . I felt a lot better that day and realized that simply acknowledging a person and listening to them may make them feel better, and remind them and you what it means to care. . So, next time you see someone and want to casually ask how are you: Be prepared listen to them. . Are you also guilty?
Instagram LogoI've always had a problem with pricing my services as a virtual assistant. This is mostly because I learned virtually everything I know now by trial and error. And didn't really have to pay for a lot of classes I design websites from scratch, carry out search engine optimization, design ebooks, 3D covers, ghost write blog posts etc. You see, virtual assistants abroad charge per hour and there's like a price range but in Nigeria where people think exposure is a currency, it is different. I mean, I've been asked to write 3 blog posts per day in exchange for exposure.??‍♀ Although I didn't agree to write for free, I have designed an entire website for free. ??‍♀️ . I used to feel like I should be grateful that people even wanted to pay me for the things I have fun doing. Forgetting the time and data I spent teaching myself. . But now, I'm getting my shit together and not feeling too guilty about charging my worth. I still occasionally feel like a fraud. #impostersyndrome ? However, the more I overcome imposter syndrome, the more I feel comfortable about my prices. So yes. Low pricing for me has been a reflection of how I feel about my worth as a #contentcreator. What about you??
Instagram LogoDo you feel comfortable without makeup? . If someone had told me 5years ago I'd be comfortable enough to post a photo on Instagram without a full face of make up, I would have laughed in their face. I never went for lectures without at least drawing my brows from 100-400L. My self confidence (without makeup) started in 500L and has grown tremendously. I even go to work bare faced. Work people, work. ??‍♀️ For the record: I've never been a make up lover. Not even close. I just didn't feel beautiful enough to be seen bare faced. Looking back now, I don't understand why I put so much pressure on myself. On the bright side, I've learned to let my face breathe and it is so refreshing! ??
Instagram LogoWhat you do everyday matters more than what you do once in a while.
Instagram LogoGrowing for me, has been mostly intentional. When I set goals and action steps to achieve them, it becomes more feasible. Every week, I have one small task to complete that makes me better; as a person, a #virtualassistant or both. This week, I am going to be taking my positive affirmations more seriously. What are you going to do this week to improve your life or business?

Get Tips To Help You Start Or Grow Your Virtual Assistant Business

You've probably Googled "How to make money online" at some point in your life or my personal favourite "how to make money working from home".

There's a lot of information on Google that is helpful, a lot of information that is outdated and a lot of information that just can't work in the Nigerian market.

Sadly, you won't know the difference when you're just starting out.

You might not get information on the specific strategies that work for a virtual service provider in Nigeria.

That's where I can help.

My name is Rose and I have been working as a virtual assistant since 2019. Like you, I didn't have virtual assistance as one of my occupation choices growing up. In fact, I didn't know it existed until two years post graduation as Medical Laboratory Scientist.

I made a lot of mistakes when I first started out online but I still hit 6 figures (in Naira) at the end of the year.

In 2020, I decided to share tips that had worked (and are still working for me) and hacks to help regular people build a virtual assistant business particularly in a developing county like Nigeria and the response has been heart warming.

Over 2,000 people receive my emails. A decent number of them write me love letters about how my advice has helped. Some new and aspiring virtual assistants from other African countries and the Caribbeans are on my list too and they find my content helpful.

I want you to succeed too even if you have no experience, no tech skills, no degree and a very tiny budget.

Since I started working as a VA, I started a family and currently make a multiple six figure salary every month working from my house. I don't have to worry about child care while at work because my schedule is flexible and I can work at anytime and in any place with my Android phone or laptop.
