This Might Be the Most Important Work You Can Do for the World Right Now

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to get pulled into the heaviness of everything happening in the world. I’ll read something online, or scroll through social media, and suddenly I’m tense… angry… heartbroken…

And while those emotions are completely valid, I’ve noticed something:

If I stay in that place too long, I lose myself.

My nervous system tightens. I stop listening. My compassion shrinks. And before I know it, I’m adding the same kind of energy I wish wasn’t in the world at all.

If you can relate, I invite you to join me in trying something different. Let's remind ourselves that the work starts inside — with loving ourselves, tending to our own hurt, and calming the parts of us that feel scared or overwhelmed.

Because when we do that, we show up very differently.

With more space.

More softness.

More courage to speak our truth without attacking anyone else’s.

I recently read a line that really stuck with me:

“Any attempt to transform systems without tending to our own wounds risks reproducing the very patterns we seek to dismantle.”

That one hit hard.

It helped me see that personal healing isn’t selfish or indulgent — it’s necessary. It’s what keeps us from reacting out of our wounds and helps us respond from clarity.

Just the other day, I saw a heated thread on social media. I felt myself getting triggered, ready to type a sharp response. But I paused. Took a breath. Checked in.

Instead of posting from anger, I stepped away, tended to the part of me that felt hurt, and came back later with a completely different perspective — and so much more compassion.

If I want to bring more love into the world, I have to start by cultivating it inside myself.

So this week, maybe we can both pause a little more.

Breathe a little deeper.

Bring curiosity instead of judgment — to ourselves first, and then to others.

Because the more peace we create within, the more peace we have available to offer the world.

Please forward this to anyone you think is also struggling with the state of the world right now. 😊💖
