Why we eat cereal for breakfast

Hi all,

I normally don't send out emails this often, but I couldn't resist when I saw this great article by Dr. Austin Perlmutter on "Why Your Breakfast Is a Metabolic Disaster."

I remember how hard it was for me to switch up my breakfast from toast, cereal, juice, pancakes, etc., to things like veggies, meat, nuts, and seeds. My family would say, "That's not what you're supposed to eat for breakfast! You're weird!"

Now, I commonly don't eat breakfast at all (striving to go 14 to 16 hours of intermittent fasting).

So why do we eat such a huge serving of carbs for breakfast? Check out the article to learn the history of the Kellogg brothers and how their ideas and marketing in the 1940s and 50s set us on our current path.

I've learned that the last thing we want to do is break our overnight fast without protein or fats to help offset the blood sugar spike caused by cereal. Yet that is what all the commercials tell us is a good way to start our day. Yikes!!
