Choosing Your Choices

I've been watching and reading a lot of Bruce Lipton's work recently and was inspired to share this tip.

Every day, we have more power to choose the choices that shape our lives than we realize.

This sounds straightforward at first glance. But upon deeper reflection, many people might say that their choices are limited or absent when it comes to their work, their family, their finances, their health, their responsibilities, etc.

But what if we think about all the choices we DO have? Here's a list to get us started:

We can choose most (or some) of the:

  • Opportunities we explore (or ignore)
  • Commitments we agree to (or turn down)
  • Foods we eat
  • Extra dollars we spend
  • Interactions we have
  • Messages/emails we send
  • Thoughts we dwell on (positive or negative)
  • Topics we read/learn about
  • People we reach out to (or don't)
  • Nice things we do for ourselves (exercise, meditate, rest, etc.)
  • Words we say to ourselves (I'm determined vs. I'm helpless)
  • Times we ask for help or offer help
  • Minutes we waste
  • Projects/chores we work on

What other choices do you have today? It's easy to procrastinate, to spend hours on social media, or to do the same things we did yesterday. Some days that might be the reasonable choice. But on most days, what if we are intentional about how we want to spend our time; to choose actions, words, and thoughts that will move us toward our goals? Even baby steps in the right direction and repeated often can have a huge impact on the quality of our life!

"So many of us are leading limited lives, not because we have to, but because we think we have to." - Bruce Lipton
