Dear ,

Dahil year of the rabbit ang 2023, let’s talk about two things that rabbits do that really fascinate me.

Pregnancy and birth.

While in Chinese culture, rabbits symbolize prosperity, abundance, good luck, and fertility.

In Aztec mythology, they are associated with promiscuity.

Rabbits can get pregnant easily.

They can even give birth up to 13 times a year.

So parang kada buwan, pwedeng manganak ang isang rabbit.

Amazing di ba?

Kaya symbol talaga sila ng fertility and abundance.

They become distressed when disturbed.

Kapag pinabayaan mo lang ang rabbit sa birthing process nya, from nesting to post-partum recovery…

The birth is natural, smooth, and easy.

Sana tayo ganito din manganak.

Undisturbed. Stress-free. Easy.

At dahil mammal din ang rabbit, the kits (tawag sa baby rabbit) feed on her milk to survive the first few weeks of growth.

It’s not intentional but it could be due to several reasons.

One reason is that the kit was mistaken as part of the placenta.

Yes! Rabbits eat their own placenta after birth.

Nabasa ko din kasi na sa ibang bansa, mothers eat their placenta for faster recovery.

I’ll share more about this in future emails when I have made more research on this topic.

Siyempre hindi yung raw placenta, processed placenta (in capsules).

They do it on their own.

Sa atin kasi, ibang level naman.

We need other people’s help and care to fast-track postpartum recovery.

Share ko lang ang top 5 practices ko to get faster recovery after birth.

  1. First ligo is done with boiled medicinal herbs (sarap nito sa pakiramdam and the scent of the herbs in lukewarm water nakaka relax)
  2. A long massage afterwards.
  3. Diet with lots of sabaw na may malunggay.
  4. Boiled bayabas leaves to wash the genital area for healing
  5. Sleep, plenty of sleep with the baby.

Simple lang, pero it works for me.

Can you share your practices too?

Would love to learn from your own experience.

So ayun, dahil Chinese New Year today.

I hope and pray that you will have prosperity, abundance, and fertility (kung applicable lang sayo ha 😁) this year and for years to come.

Happy new year!

Nagmamahal,

Mommy Fivemay
