Hails, Glorious Booksellers!

Next week sees the release of the latest volume of our acclaimed twin-novella series, SPLIT SCREAM: Cursed Places! It's been racking up a ton of positive press and feedback, but most relevant for the purpose of this missive...

What do Booksellers think??

"My favorite installment of the series so far...and that's saying something, considering how good every single one has been"

  • Drew Broussard, Bookstore Manager, Rough Draft Bar & Books, Kingston, New York

Thanks very much, Drew, that'll do nicely.

Release Date: April 21, 2026                                      $14.99, Trade Paperback

Print ISBN: 978-1-959790-61-7

First up, from two-time Ladies of Horror Award Winner and BRAVE NEW WEIRD recipient Sonora Taylor comes the politically charged "Passing Glance":

Washington, D.C.’s sprawling and storied Moore Mansion is built upon intrigue and secrecy, playing host to both political elites and the merely curious alike. Its labyrinthine rooms and passageways, festooned in eclectic art and mysterious mirrors, captivate all who explore them.

Dylan arrives at the mansion for her friend’s 30th birthday party at a crossroads of her own: adrift, eager to reunite with old friends, and seeking to rekindle a long-held lust for one of the group. But tonight she will discover the true terrifying secrets of Moore Mansion: a house built to be a city, and one which unfolds like a trap.

Then, Matthew Pritt takes you to a grim Weird second-world fantasy where environmental collapse has taken on a new horrific form, in "Lash Egg":

The people of the Doe’s country walk in the Balance, attuned to the land and guided by their benevolent nature spirit. For Ben, a refugee who narrowly escaped the madness-infested Bear’s country to the south, the Doe remains a mystery. Ben has never heard the Doe speak, and marvels at his neighbors’ firsthand experiences with his new home’s Protector. Fortunately his ten-year-old daughter, Lydia, doesn’t share his struggles, and adapts to life in the Doe with ease.

But when a mysterious wasting plague attacks the local wildlife, Ben suspects he is the cause of it. As the plague spreads and threatens to collapse the Doe’s entire ecosystem, Ben must discover how he has offended the Doe, or risk losing the only safe place he and his daughter have ever known.

NEWS: TENEBROUS HAS A NEW DISTRIBUTOR

After this volume of SPLIT SCREAM, we're taking a brief two-month pause from releases...because Tenebrous has signed a distribution deal with Independent Publishers Group (IPG) that goes into effect on June 1st.

image

We're thrilled to have an enthusiastic partner like IPG, not to mention access to their vast network and resources. Our onboarding process with them has been a helluva learning experience, shifting gears as it does from Alex and I handling literally every task to suddenly having multiple departments responsible for multiple avenues. It's been eye-opening, and IPG has been lovely and patient with our proudly-indie-but-admittedly-stubborn ways; and we're excited to see what this means for our future and continued steady growth.

On a pure content level, nothing will change at Tenebrous. From our cover art to our dedication to amplifying new voices to our fixation on the Weirdest of genre swerves: these were the features that led IPG to bring us on board, not the bugs.

They will be taking over full distribution of our back catalogue, as well as all future titles. Now, I'm not gonna pretend to know how all the mechanisms work—I am a knucklehead—but if you already have an account with IPG, you're good to go. And if you have an account with Ingram, you're also good to go, as they utilize the Lightning Source branch of Ingram, where all of our titles will be transferring over to from their current location at IngramSpark.

We wanted to kick things at IPG off with a bang, so coming in June is the longform English-language debut of Spanish author Santiago Eximeno:

One summer afternoon, Santi and Maria's daughter disappears without a trace from a public park. A fruitless investigation passes, the agony only serving to tear Santi’s life and family further apart.

Months go by, and Santi finally stumbles upon a clue: it is hardly a name, barely a whisper, but it is enough to reveal a haunting legacy and unleash an entirely new kind of horror upon the despairing young father:

“He Who Does Not Speak With Children.”

"Tenebrous went for broke here and this is by far their best. A painstaking, demented journey...The final pages will leave you staring into the abyss, where hope and horror blur together in the most devastating way."
