Hi

How to Teach Adjective Word Order 🎯

Tips on putting adjectives in the right order before nouns, including stimulating ways of presenting which adjectives go first and later

Alex Case ◀️

Even simple adjectives can be hard to put together before nouns, with many students who are familiar with “big” and “blue” not knowing that it’s “a big blue ball” not “a blue big ball”. It’s therefore well worth spending some class time on the order of adjectives before nouns at all levels that adjectives are taught at (so probably all levels). https://www.tefl.net/elt/ideas/grammar/how-to-teach-adjective-word-order/

Be Verb Rock Star Song ♠️

The verb BE is a very special verb in English. It is the most common verb of all verbs. After the word "the", it is the most common word in English. It does not obey most of the rules that apply to all other verbs. It has 8 forms, while all other verbs have only 3, 4 or 5. And (like "have" and "do") it can be both a main verb and an auxiliary verb. Be really is "top dog", as Jonathan Taylor discovers in his Be Verb Rock Star Song below.
