WRITING UPDATE
Instead of a writing update, since saying the same thing every week gets old...how about an unedited excerpt? I love this scene, but I can't absolutely promise it will be in the final book. (But I will fight to keep it lol)
When Forever Stays Excerpt
Screams come from across the hall. I throw my blankets off and sprint into Rhett’s room. The blankets are scattered on the floor and he tosses and turns on the bed. I need to find a way to calm him down.
“Don’t do it! Please! Put it down!” His body thrashes wildly and I run over to him, praying I reach him before he throws himself off the bed.
“Rhett! Wake up!”
His arms reach up toward the ceiling then he screams, “NO!”
“Rhett!” I shout right back.
He stills and I breathe a sigh of relief. Then I see the tears streaming down his cheeks. He curls in on himself as sobs tear through his body.
A nightmare. A painful, heart wrenching nightmare.
I kneel next to the bed, brushing his hair off of his sweat soaked forehead. His body visibly relaxes. I stroke his jaw, feeling emotion build inside of me until I feel I could burst. This is too much too fast. Just like before. It’s all illogical.
I beg God to help me guard my heart, because somehow, this beautiful, complicated man is even more appealing this time around. And my heart is too quickly falling back into its old habit. My hand lazily pushes through his hair that’s just a touch too long, giving him the comfort I’d want to have after such an awful nightmare. After a few minutes, I pull my hand away and try to stand. Rhett whimpers then reaches for me, his large hands circle around my wrist and he pulls me forward so I’m perched very awkwardly on his too small bed.
He releases my wrist then wraps his arms around my waist, his head nuzzling into my side. I’m frozen in place, unsure of what to do or how to get out. So I don’t move, just sit perfectly still as his breathing becomes steadier. The rapid rise and fall of his chest slows and his breathing deepens. His release on me doesn’t loosen.
“Dana Swann,” he mumbles, “Can I please keep you?”
BOOKS FOR YOUR TBR
I may or may not have read these books, but you can always count on them to be clean!
SWEET ROMANCE BOOK
A country singer, a bodyguard, and a mystery that ties them together.
Four years after the death of her husband, Kayla Keller’s dreams of making it big in the country singing industry are the only thing keeping her sane. When she’s attacked after a concert, she thinks a crazed fan is responsible, but a chilling phone call soon after brings up memories from the past that still haunt her. She hates the idea of a bodyguard trailing her steps, but she relents when she realizes how dangerous the situation has become.
Troy Littman has waited for a promotion and chance to head the new division of Bad Boy Bodyguards for a long time. He’s ready to put all his attention into developing the office when he’s given one last assignment: protect a country singer from potential harm. A no-fraternization policy prevents relationships between clients and bodyguards, and Troy has always maintained a professional distance. But Kayla Keller gets under his skin in a way that no other woman has.
Troy has to choose between a relationship he desires and a promotion he’s wanted for a long time. And just when he thinks he has the answer, new information pops up, putting Kayla’s life in even more jeopardy. Will they catch the man who attacked her, or will their growing love slip between their fingers before it has a chance to begin?
A Christian romance with a happy ending!
CHRISTIAN ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
What happens when you fall in love with the woman you’re supposed to be protecting?
Fire Beach is like most other towns. There are detectives, firefighters, doctors, and quirky characters. But unlike most towns, Fire Beach seems to have more than its share of romance and danger.
Firefighter Cassidy Marcel went on The Cowboy’s Reality Bride to find love, but she quickly realized the show wasn’t for her. She returns to her job to find a pile of fan mail waiting for her and while most of it is lighthearted and fun, one piece of mail sends chills racing down her spine.
Detective Jordan Graves is in the middle of searching for missing children when he’s tasked with protecting a firefighter from a stalker. He has no time for fame-seeking reality TV stars, but when he meets Cassidy, he realizes she’s nothing like the image he created in his head. She even helps him with his case, but he has no time for love right?
If you love clean romance with a little danger mixed in and you enjoy authors like Christy Barritt, Susan Sleeman, and Alana Terry, then you will love this new thrill-filled romantic suspense series from USA Today best selling author Lorana Hoopes. Though a series, each book will be a stand alone, and your favorite characters will appear time and again, so you can follow their journey.
Will Jordan find the children? Will Cassidy escape her stalker? Find out by clicking the Buy More button above to begin your escape to Fire Beach today.

In here I will choose a book to highlight and share it with you! Every book I share here has been personally read and vetted by me.
This week's book is:
Sign Me Up by Dulcie Dameron:
What’s a girl to do when her co-worker bestie sends her mixed signals during a work crisis?
This past year has been one for the record books…
With my Pops checking himself into a nursing home after his dementia diagnosis, and my boyfriend of seven months ditching me for his cat, my life has begun a downward trend.
And just when I think my anxiety can’t get any worse, my impossible-to-please boss decides to try and change the emotionally stunted climate of our workplace by throwing me and my co-workers into the worst social experiment of the decade.
The one light in this bizarre turn of events is my handsome work bestie, Parker. And even though he can’t hear, and my Sign Language is still a bit stilted, our inside jokes and silly antics keep me sane during these field trips our boss insists we go on.
When my attraction to Parker becomes too great to ignore, I start to wonder if he sees me as more than a friend. But giving into my feelings is too much of a risk and would put more than just our friendship on the line.
So, I’ll continue to hide my attraction at all costs. Even if it means losing a chance at the future I've always wanted.
***Sign Me Up is a co-workers, friends-to-more sweet romantic comedy full of quirky characters, deaf representation, sizzling swoon, and memorably funny moments.***
MY REVIEW
This was such a sweet best friends to more romance. I loved how well Dulcie represented a deaf MC and made the heroine even more lovable by working hard to learn ASL 🥹. Both MCs were so darn lovable and made such a sweet couple. It was hard for Jamie to open herself back up to a romantic relationship with a guy friend, which was totally understandable because of how badly she’d be burned in the past.
In true Dulcie fashion the romance was so swoony and the kisses were 🔥 but never took it too far. If you’re looking for a sweet RomCom with a whole lot of heart, Sign Me Up is the book for you! 🩷
