How to 'stop' tapping? 🤔
Nov 26, 2024 9:29 am
Hi ,
Tapping can be an incredible tool for emotional freedom, but one question I often hear is: When should I stop tapping? 🤔
If you’re working with a practitioner, they’ll guide you gently out of the session using techniques like sneaking away, ensuring you leave feeling grounded and balanced. But when you’re tapping on your own, it’s up to you to decide when it feels right to stop.
Here’s a simple way to know...
- Check in with your SUD score (Subjective Units of Distress).
- Aim for a score of 3 or below, or continue tapping until you feel calm and comfortable enough to move forward with your day.
To wrap up your session, try a round of positive affirmations to lift your mood and integrate the shifts you’ve created. Using the SUE scale (Subjective Units of Experience) can be a wonderful way to assess how positive or uplifted you’re feeling afterward.
If you’re not familiar with the SUE scale, I’ve written a post about it here: https://www.tappingassociation.com/measuring-progress-suds-sue-scale
A few other tips for ending a session on your own:
- Take a deep breath and notice any remaining tension.
- If you feel emotional, try a few more rounds of tapping to process it gently.
- Finish with a grounding technique like sipping water, stretching or placing your hands on your heart.
Remember, there’s no perfect way to end a session - only your way. Be kind to yourself, and trust your inner guidance 🙏✨

💭 Final Thoughts
Reflecting on the tapping news above about Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, I was reminded of the power of moments that truly captivate us. Yesterday, I took my son to see the new Wicked film, and I was completely absorbed in how beautifully it was made - such a treat for both the eyes and the soul! 🤩
Beyond the stunning visuals, Wicked carries powerful messages about standing up for what’s right, tackling racism, challenging the patriarchy and fighting for equality, even when it’s difficult. It’s a story that encourages us to think critically about the world around us and reminds us of the importance of speaking out, even in the face of adversity.
These kinds of stories can inspire us to take action in our own lives and remind us of the importance of creating a more just and compassionate world 🌎💙
