Hi !
Some of you might be wondering, "This week's Say What? issue looks different!"
And, you're right - it is!
I am no longer using my old newsletter platform, GetRevue, and am now on a new platform called SendFox.
Why the change? Well, you guys are the reason behind this change!
When I started this small #SayWhat newsletter project back in December 2018, never have I imagined it being as big as it is now.
But you guys made it possible.
From a humble and small target of 50 subscribers within the first year, we are now at more than 800 subscribers within two years!
Most, if not all, of you are just like me - a young person, aged between 20 to 30 years old, still trying to figure out our own way in this world. You may still be in university, or you might have just recently graduated, and navigating the real world can be a bit daunting.
You are not alone - we are all in this together. We are all trying to figure life out, we struggle here and there, but we stand back up every single time life throws us down.
And being a part of this community shows that you are taking life in your own hands, that you want to find ways to improve yourself and be better than you were before, even by a tiny little bit.
New post on the blog - 5 Resume tips (and mistakes to avoid!)
Life's all about making the best out of what the world gives us.
It is easy to think about all the bad things that COVID-19 has caused - unemployment and retrenchment, wedding and event cancellations, trips indefinitely postponed, the struggles to adapt to online learning, being separated from family and loved ones, burden on healthcare and frontliners, and mental health issues.
With the increase in cases in the past couple of weeks, it can be disheartening if we keep on looking (and focusing on) the negative impacts. While we cannot deny that COVID-19 has brought on a lot of negative impacts to the country (and worldwide) from multiple aspects, it can also be good for us to think about it from a different perspective.
Recently on Twitter and Instagram, I saw people sharing posts and encouraging others to share some of the good things that have happened to you in the past few months, either because of or despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
For some people, this may have been the time where they have started a new online business (especially with the rise of online shopping). Some people may have taken this opportunity to explore multiple opportunities to expand their skills and knowledge. Others may opt to spend more time with their families (especially those who studied away from home!).
Personally for me, I took this opportunity to dive deeper into career coaching. This include running multiple Job Search 101 online classes, volunteering as a KisahSiswa career coach with TalentCorp, and running a few webinars and workshops.
So, what about you?
What good things, if any, came out of the whole fiasco with COVID-19? What are you currently doing to make the most out of it? Or what challenges are you currently facing that you might need additional help with?
Share with me, I'd love to hear from you.
Until I see you again in two weeks - take care, and stay awesome!
Love,
Nazu xx
