As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the remarkable journey we have shared with you. This year, the Sun-Net user group family expanded to include over 80 utilities, spanning Transmission, Distribution, Generation, Water, Gas, Telecom, and IT departments - marking another year forward in our mission to enable safer, more reliable, and efficient operations.
Highlights from 2024
Our Annual User Group Conference in Denver was a resounding success. With 87 attendees from 45 utilities and additional participation via webinars, the event highlighted our shared commitment to innovation and collaboration. We extend special thanks to John Sharp (TVA) and the user group committee for their outstanding leadership in organizing the conference.
The Sun-Net team also proudly unveiled significant advancements:
- The iTOAv2 platform showcased enhanced configuration, mobility features, dynamic workflows, flexible reporting, cloud/SAAS deployments and seamless integrations with major systems, empowering utilities to operate with greater efficiency and intelligence.
- Numerous iTOAv2 innovations for Emergent Switching, Dashboards/Reporting, System Check-In, Workload/Resource Scheduling, Auto-Notifications, Trouble Log, System Change, PRC Event Analysis, Inter-Module Associations, iTOA-API.
- iTOA-AI / ELORA introduced cutting-edge capabilities like chatbot-driven operations with voice to text, quick entries/queries with intelligent recommendations, streamlining daily workflows for users, and reducing time spent on routine manual tasks.
- iTOA-Net to foster deeper collaboration between neighboring utilities by automating notifications, outage coordination, and shared equipment management.
- Expanded integration with multiple vendor systems in EMS/NMS, ADMS, GIS, Asset/Work Management.
- Extended the versatility of iTOAv2 to meet the unique needs of Generation, Gas, Water, and Telecom in addition to Transmission and Distribution.
The Road Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
As we step into 2025, we are energized by the opportunities to further empower our customers:
- New Leadership for the User Group: Nick Zabel (ITC) will succeed John Sharp as the User Group Committee lead, introducing initiatives like the iTOA-Ignite webinars, online forum and our next User Group Conference.
- Continued Innovation: We’ll refine iTOAv2 modules as per your feedback, consolidate best practices, and explore emerging trends in mobility, AI, and automation to address evolving industry needs.
- Enhanced iTOAv2 Functionality: The platform will continue to evolve in order to support scheduling/planning/coordination, outage management, switching-tagging, logging, interruption reporting, compliance, and resource management—tailored to utilities’ unique requirements.
