That car would be this particular 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS that sold yesterday for an above-market price of $175,000. At first, "above market" and "$175k" don't make sense here as the moving average for 991.1 RS' has been around $200k for the last year. But this example has the highest mileage out of any 997.1 GT3 RS trading hands in the past year with just over 23,000.
Still, that seems like a discount compared to $200k thanks to the mileage. But when you take into consideration the fact that a car with 10,000 fewer miles sold for $176,000 just a few weeks ago, now you see what we're saying. Congrats to the seller for getting a bit more for their car in this market, well-sold 100%.
But, the fact that the seller purchased the car for $139,245 three years ago at about $15,000 below market, you my friend are what legends are made of. You drove a world-class GT car for 10,000 miles and got paid to do it. If we all could be so lucky.
NOTEWORTHY SALES
- There are worse ways to spend $10,000 than this Subaru-Powered 1973 914 project car. Lots of smiles per mile lie ahead for this buyer once they get this little go-kart sorted. Well-bought just for the fun factor per dollar.
- Despite what the seller states, $350,000 was a fair price for this low-mileage 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. You want more than that? Your car better be Rubystone or Maritime Blue, not Black.
- This 1992 911 Turbo was well-sold at $206,000. With only 27,000 miles on the odometer, this Grand Prix White car was a standard earlier model that hasn't cracked the $200k ceiling since May of last year.
NEW LISTINGS
- Gooding & Co. is bringing a collection of Ruf 911s to Amelia Island this year with this 1998 Ruf Turbo R being the star of the bunch in our opinion. Based off of the 993 Turbo, this Turbo R is finished in Blook Orange over Black Leather and pumps out 551 BHP. Their estimate of between $1.4m and $1.8m however looks very optimistic.
- 8,000 miles will most likely push this 2016 Boxster Spyder 6sp over the $100,000 mark but even at that price, these 981-generation Spyders are still looking like a good buy.
- And here we thought all Cayenne Diesels were White. This 2013 Cayenne Diesel is finished in Dark Blue Metallic over Platinum Grey and sports over 145,000 miles. Even with that kind of mileage expect this one to crack $20k.
