Good morning, my friends! A serious note to begin with....

In today's book world, we are all hearing about and are worried about AI taking over the book industry. So, I want to be honest with my readers and just tell you that it is a real problem.

As an indie author for six years, my income grew slowly until the AI explosion in 2024 and 2025. I'm not going to sugarcoat it; I lost revenue last year. About 3000 dollars less after computing my tax returns.

I'm a real author, and I spend hours researching, writing, editing, and refining my stories before they come to you. The cost of self-publishing is on the rise, and in an effort to block some of these massive AI uploads, publishing firms like D2D, Apple, etc., are adding fees and limits for independent authors to weed out fake AI authors. This is yet another bite of indie authors that hurts our already dwindling income.

Yes, we all love a good deal and a freebie now and then, especially me. But lately, it's been on my mind more to leave the industry altogether. I don't want to, but I can't afford to operate at a loss either. I've kept my book prices as low as I can, but am forced to make a few upgrades to keep up. I hope that $3.49 for my new novella in the Holidays' Ever After series won't burden you beyond your ability to support me as one of your favorite authors.
