SYAO Creativity, the week of February 17, 2025
Feb 17, 2025 3:16 pm
Hello, everyone!
Happy Monday! Here's the latest edition of SYAO Creativity. Let's see what's going on in our creative world this week!
(I just realized that I've put 2024 on all the emails so far this year. But I just fixed this one! Haha!)
Also, a quick note that there are only 2 openings remaining for the retreat this year. Please try to sign up by the end of the month if you're thinking about it, but you technically have until March 15. You can get more information by downloading the newsletter.
STITCH (What I've been working on)
I just shortened a sweater! This was an easy task. First, I determined how long I wanted it. Then, since the hem was kind of crooked, I used a rotary cutter and ruler, and chopped it off straight. I needlefelted along the entire raw edge to keep the stitches secure. (I could have sewn them, but I like the look and feel of needle felting better.) Then I picked up stitches along the bottom and worked a garter-stitch band. I forgot to take before pictures, and I forgot to video myself doing the rotary cutting. I just did it without thinking, because it's so easy. I'm completely comfortable cutting knitting: It's just a fabric, and this wool is Harrisville Highland, which is sticky and won't unravel. It's really no big deal. My warmest, favorite sweater is no longer dowdy. Yay!
YOUR (What you've been working on)
Dori's quilt is amazing. I love red with black. It's classic.
ART (Inspired by art or nature)
I was going through old photos the other day, and ran across this cheetah one that I took at Disney. Look at those eyes. What a glorious color.
OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)
New--a bulky yarn from Malabrigo! It glows!
As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!
