SYAO Creativity, the week of June 16, 2025
Jun 16, 2025 2:06 pm
Hello, everyone!
Happy Monday! Here's what's been happening in the shop. Let's start out the week thinking creatively!
STITCH (What I've been working on)
First of all, I'll be teaching a workshop for the Knitter's Guild in August. It should be a great day! Everyone is welcome to sign up, whether or not you're a guild member (but why not join?)! Here's the information:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 9 Centre Knitters Guild Workshop with Cynthia Spencer!
Spend the day knitting and learning with Cynthia Spencer, the designer behind Really Clear Designs and owner of Stitch Your Art Out, our local yarn store. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your skills in two popular knitting techniques, intarsia and sweater design and construction. Choose to attend one or both sessions. Further info including cost and sign up here. Non-members are welcome. So bring a friend or two!

I'm coming right along on my cicada hat. I need to embroider their wings yet, but that will happen later. I doubt I'll wear the hat till fall, so no rush! But I'm loving it! I haven't seen nearly enough cicadas for my satisfaction. They seem to be in Bellefonte and Spring Mills. Alas.
Want to learn to knit? You won't be able to make this hat right away, but you can get started on a scarf in Knitting 101. It starts on Wednesday. If you already know how to knit, but want to learn how to make a sweater, we have that starting Thursday. Sign up for both classes here!
YOUR (What you've been working on)
Claudia's quilt is SO COOL. One might even say, groovy!
Love her choice of wavy quilting lines. She used the same color of thread as the color of fabric in each row, extending those colors out to the background brown. Nice.
ART (Inspired by art or nature)
This photo is from a few weeks ago. Here's the one cicada that was hanging out in our yard. I'm going to use the pattern on its wings to embroider my hat!
I apologize if you're not a bug lover. Scroll past, quick!!
OUT (What's out on the shelves in the shop)
I like this fabric. It's black and white, but it has all kinds of info about color. It would make a fantastic background for a bright quilt!
As always, make an appointment to shop or browse, or just to show off your stuff! I can't wait to see you!
